Hovory s Bedřichem Loewensteinem
Rozhovory se svým otcem vedla v letech 2012–2013 jeho dcera. Osnovou rozhovorů jsou historické zvraty od roku 1939 do roku 1989, které zásadně ovlivňovaly Loewensteinovy životní osudy. Loewenstein se přísně drží objektivity, nesklouzává do sentimentálních tónů, o vlastním životě a jeho peripetiích přemýšlí v souvislostech a s nadhledem. I proto jeho vyprávění dokáže poměrně přesně vyvolat obrazy doby. Rozhovory se však zabývají i obecnějšími tématy z oblasti historie, společenského a politického vývoje atd. Podrobně a z více úhlů se dotýkají mnoha méně reflektovaných témat, vzhledem k Loewensteinovu původu i vědeckému zaměření i témat poměrně vzácných.
Prof. PhDr. Bedřich Loewenstein, CSc., (1929–2017) historik. Narodil se v pražské česko-německo-židovské rodině a vyrůstal v kulturně mnohovrstevnatém a bilingvním prostředí. Po studiu na Univerzitě Karlově (přerušeném z politických důvodů na začátku 50. let) pracoval v Historickém ústavu ČSAV, v roce 1970 byl propuštěn, v roce 1979 pak odešel do Západního Berlína a nadále působil na tamní Freie Universität. Po roce 1989 spolupracoval s českými vědeckými institucemi, časopisy a nakladatelstvími.
Doc. PhDr. Miriam Löwensteinová, Ph.D., koreanistka, Zabývá se korejskou literaturou starou i novou, překládá. Přednáší na Filozofické fakultě UK v Praze. Dcera prof. Bedřicha Loewensteina.

The history of the Iranian Air Force, currently known as the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF), can be divided into two phases – before the Islamic Revolution (1978–79) and after it. With Seekers of Wonder, Elena Sottilotta offers the first comparative study of women's manifold roles in the collection of Italian and Irish folklore and fairy tales between 1870 and 1920. After mapping sidelined, marginalized, and forgotten women folklorists, Sottilotta narrows the focus onto four writers and collectors who were inspired by Italian and Irish insular contexts: Laura Gonzenbach, who collected Sicilian wonder tales; Grazia Deledda, who wrote Sardinian ethnographic sketches, legends, and fairy tales; Jane Wilde, who published anthologies of Irish folklore; and Augusta Gregory, who collected traditional narratives in the west of Ireland. Situated within an ongoing process of rediscovery of lesser-known collectors, tellers, and tales in the European tradition, Sottilotta relocates these figures within a broader transcultural framework.
Throughout, Sottilotta emphasizes the role of women as crucial intermediaries between different cultural groups-in particular, between the world of the "folk" and the world of scholarly folklore studies. Unearthing rare archival material and reading these writings from the perspective of gender, Sottilotta sheds light on the identity dynamics that animated the cultural phenomenon of collecting folk and fairy tales in this era.

Arab Orthodox Christians Under the Ottomans 1516–1831
Over the past several decades, the world''s attention has been drawn to the presence of significant minority religious groups within the predominantly Islamic Middle East. Of these minorities Christians are by far the largest, comprising over 10% of the population in Syria and as much as 40% in Lebanon. This work fills a gap in the scholarship of wider Christian history and more specifically that of lived religion within the Ottoman empire. The author traces the evolution of Arab Orthodox Christian society from its roots in the Hellenistic culture of the Byzantine Empire to a distinctly Syro-Palestinian identity. There follows a detailed examination of this multi-faceted community, from the Ottoman conquest of Syria, Palestine and Egypt in 1516 to the Egyptian invasion of Syria in 1831. The author draws on archaeological evidence and previously unpublished primary sources uncovered in Russian archives and Middle Eastern monastic libraries to present a vivid and compelling account of this vital but little-known spiritual and political culture, situating it within a complex network of relations reaching throughout the Mediterranean, the Caucasus and Eastern Europe.
