Milan Veselý (1935 - 2016)
Grafický dizajnér Milan Veselý spolupracoval s väčšinou slovenských vydavateľstiev a zanechal po sebe nesmierne objemnú prácu z oblasti knižnej tvorby a typografie. Rovnako aktívny bol aj na poli plagátovej tvorby – vytvoril množstvo plagátov pre galérie, múzeá, divadlá (SND, Nová scéna v Bratislave, Divadlo na Korze – Astorka Korzo '90 – vrátane loga tohto divadla). Ťažisko jeho práce však spočívalo predovšetkým vo výstavníctve, kde sa stal doslova priekopníkom progresívnych výstavníckych metód. Jeho posledným veľkým dielom je Pamätník holokaustu v Seredi. Ten po jeho smrti dokončuje dcéra Nina Cohen Veselá, ktorá je hlavnou zostavovateľkou tejto monografie. Cennú pozostalosť Milana Veselého v súčasnosti spravuje umelcova manželka, pani Zita Furková, ktorá sa intenzívne podieľala na príprave knihy, vychádzajúcej v spolupráci so Slovenským centrom dizajnu.
Ivan Csudai: Vita Circulus Est ( Práce na papieri )
Monografia Petra Michaloviča Ivan Csudai: Vita circulus est prezentuje kresby a grafiky významného slovenského výtvarného umelca. Autor monografie sa zameral na rekonštrukciu genézy a vývinu umelcovej tvorby, pokúsil sa detailne interpretovať sémantiku a syntax umelcovho individuálneho štýlu, pričom upozorňuje aj na zlom v tvorbe, ktorý práce na papieri delí do dvoch asymetrických celkov. Výber kresieb a grafík reprodukovaných v monografii prezentuje všetky polohy umelcovej kresby a grafiky tak, aby si čitateľ porozumel kreativite a variabilite jeho tvorby. Na výbere sa významným dielom podielal Ivan Csudai, ktorý je aj autorom dizajnu a zalomenia publikácie. Súčasťou monografie je aj text Mariana Zervana.

Tvorbu Evy Mansfeldové lze z hlediska umělecké stylu zařadit mezi geometrickou abstrakci, op art či konstruktivismus.
Její obrazy jsou založeny na vztazích mezi geometrickými tvary a barvou, představují permanentní a systematický průzkum zákonitosti vjemů, cílem je vyvolání zrakové iluze pohybu dosahovaného plošnou strukturou a barevností.

Norbert Grund. Velký mistr malých formátů
První ucelená monografie Norberta Grunda (1717-1767), jednoho z nejvýznamnějších představitelů rokokové malby v Čechách, hodnotí jeho tvorbu v širších domácích i středoevropských uměleckých souvislostech a zaměřuje pozornost na autorův mimořádně bohatý námětový i stylistický rejstřík, odrážející nejrůznější inspirační zdroje. Monografie reflektuje i otázku popularity Grundových obrazů, které graficky reprodukoval Jan Jiří Balzer. Její součástí je také studie o sběratelství umělcových obrazů až do současnosti a stať rekapitulující vliv Norberta Grunda na formování a vývoj české krajinomalby 19. století. Publikace obsahuje 446 reprodukcní a doplňuje ji výběrový katalog Grundových a Balzerových děl.
Vojtěch Míča
Sochař VOJTĚCH MÍČA (nar. 1966) náleží k výrazným osobnostem generace, jejíž vstup na uměleckou scénu je v českém prostředí spojen s dynamickou dobou devadesátých let, tedy současně s obdobím zviditelnění v mezinárodních souvislostech. Jeho raný rukopis daný expresí a tematikou paměti místa byl záhy obohacen minimalistickým a postminimalistickým tvaroslovím. Zformovala se základní charakteristika jeho prací přítomnost dvou paralelních, zdánlivě nesourodých výrazových linií. Současné rozpětí celku tak obsáhne industriální mechaničnost betonového odlitku, organičnost ručně opracované materie dřeva nebo kamene, ale i amorfní živelnost umělé hmoty. Míčovy sestavy otisků střepů reality podávají jakoby nezaujatě zprávu o jejím momentálním stavu, jsou ale plné emocionální a intelektuální síly hodnotové reflexe. Vedle sochařské práce Míča dlouhodobě pedagogicky působí na Akademii výtvarných umění po ukončení studia v ateliéru monumentální tvorby A. Veselého působil jako asistent v ateliéru H. Demartiniho a následně J. Zeithammla, od roku 2015 vede Ateliér figurálního sochařství a medaile. Míčova monografie je především důkladná obrazová zpráva o mnohaleté kontinuální sochařské práci. Její struktura není přísně chronologická, reflektuje samotné tvůrčí principy. Rytmus jejího členění je založen na kombinaci koncentrovaných obrazových ohnisek např. účasti na sympoziu v newyorském Socrates Sculpture Park roku 1997, prezentací na Sculpture Grande v Praze roku 2006 a Sculpture by the Sea v Sydney roku 2009 nebo například výstavy s Ivanem Pinkavou Vitální kolaps v pražském Museu Kampa z roku 2019 a otevřené různorodosti použitých materiálů, umístění soch nebo inspiračních fotografií. Obrazové celky jsou doprovázeny texty Vojtěcha Míči (včetně anglických překladů). Součástí monografie jsou dále například rozhovory s P. Vaňousem (2014) a I. Mladičovou (2019). Jde o první publikaci prezentující sochy, realizace, kresby a skici Vojtěcha Míči v šíři a intenzitě retrospektivního formátu.
Používám běžné, nijak výrazné materiály, z našeho každodenního pohledu jasně zařazené. Dotýkám se jich, formuji je, vřazuji je do jiných jasných a běžných vztahů, proporcí, příběhů, které šednou, jen co je opustím. Netečné komunikátory, předměty, které čekají na dotyk, upřenější pohled, který racionální strukturou konkrétního místa, vymezeného a poznamenaného plynoucí zkušeností pronikne do neznámých struktur a rastrů nepoznamenaných poučenou trojrozměrností (VM)

Katalog výstavy Sníh, kámen, hvězda, strom autorů Vladimíra Havlíka a Rudolfa Sikory vznikl s ambicí co nejvíce uchovat a zpřítomňovat probíhající přehlídku, která představila díla obou autorů formou vizuální eseje o našich snech o přítomnosti a tušené budoucnosti. Klíčem výstavy tak nebylo historizující hledisko, ale aktualizace obsahů a témat, s nimiž autoři pracují. Mimo kurátorský text, kontextualizující vystavená umělecká díla vůči tématům, problémům a výzvám dneška, publikace obsahuje sled reprodukcí děl, který zračí vnitřní logiku a rytmus výstavy samotné.

Monografia Štefana Papča Verticality as Fantastic Occupation je súhrnnou monografiou, obsahujúcou umelcove najvýznamnejšie umelecké projekty a série. Editorkou je v Paríži pôsobiaca kurátorka a teoretička umenia Elena Sorokina a textami okrem nej prispeli Daniel Grúň, taliansky kurátor a kritik súčasného umenia Matteo Lucchetti, Štefan Papčo a v Berlíne a Antverpách pôsobiaci spisovateľ, editor a kurátor Dieter Roelstraete. Publikácia sa venuje téme vertikality a horolezectva v umení Štefana Papča. Jeho práca je situovaná do kontextu telesnosti, gravitácie, pohybu a vnímania. Umelec sleduje historický vývoj podôb vizuálnej vertikality, stopuje ju až do súčasnosti a zaujíma k nej svoj vlastný postoj.
Fifth Force
Prvá súhrnná monografická publikácia Jaroslava Kyšu Fifth Force zhodnocuje umelcovu doterajšiu tvorbu a podáva o nej celistvý obraz. Dokumentuje diela, ktoré vytvoril v rokoch 2013 až 2018 a je doplnená textami v angličtine aj slovenčine od rešpektovaných domácich i zahraničných teoretičiek a teoretikov – medzi nimi od Lily Hall, Jána Kraloviča, Erika Vilíma a Miry Keratovej. Jednotlivé texty sa na Kyšovu tvorbu pozerajú z rôznych teoretických pozícií a poskytujú tak vrstevnatú analýzu. Vstup Miry Keratovej má podobu rozhovoru, ktorý umožňuje hlbší náhľad do umelcovho uvažovania a tvorivých postupov.
Monet
Impressionism took its name from the title of a painting that Claude Monet (1840-1926) exhibited in 1874. More than any other artist, Monet was the creator of the Impressionist vision, which has so forcefully shaped the way in which he habitually see nature today. For sixty years he continuously explored ways of translating his experiences into paint, in pictures that take us from the bustling life of Paris in the 1860s to the seclusion of his own water-garden, which he painted in his last years.
John House's introduction to Monet's life and work presents a sequence of dazzling illustrations that chart the artist's progress as he became increasingly preoccupied with colour and atmospheric effect, and the direct studies of nature gave way to paintings of greater richness and harmony, in which the play of varied colours replaced the conventional drawing and modelling of forms.
Picasso
The name which predominates in the development of art throughout the twentieth century, and to which many of the revolutionary changes are ascribed, is that of Pablo Picasso (1881-1973). Not only was he one of the most influential artists, he was also one of the most versatile. This beautifully produced book surveys the whole range of his paintings, from the haunting works of the Blue Period, to the brute power of Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, the lyrical sweetness of his family portraits, the revolutionary developments of Cubism and the later manifold experimentations with form and colour.
Roland Penrose's introductory essay on Picasso was first published in 1971, when the great master was still alive. Penrose was acclaimed in his own right as a painter, and his long friendship with Picasso gave him unique insight into his life and work. David Lomas has written a preface introducing us to the friendship between these two artists.
He has also written notes to each full-page colour plate, discussing the picture in detail, making this a perfect introduction to the twentieth century's most famous artist.
Klimt
Gustave Klimt (1862-1918) was one of the most brilliant artists of the Austrian avant-garde. Admired for his sensual images of women and for his powerful and original vision, he produced some of the most haunting and evocative images of all time, including The Kiss, Love and The Three Ages of Woman, all of which are included in this perfect introduction to the artist's work. Klimt started out as a decorator, opening a studio with his brother Ernst.
Some of his most famous commissions were for murals, including the magnificent Beethoven Frieze, painted for the exhibition of Max Klinger's statue of Beethoven, and the monumental ceiling paintings for the auditorium of Vienna University, which shocked a conservative public. A founder of Vienna Secession, the band of artists who resigned from the established art bodies to form their own group, Klimt became the principal painter of the Art Nouveau movement, painting glittering portraits of fashionable Viennese society as well as startling and erotic allegories.
Van Gogh
The career of Vincent Van Gogh (1853-90) as a painter was short, but his paintings revolutionized artistic practice and styles. The intensity of his vision, his wonderful sense of colour and the extraordinary boldness of his technique created masterpieces that exercised a profound influence on the art of the twentieth century. There are also enormously popular, and paintings such as The Yellow Chair, The Drawbridge and The Sower are among the most the best-loved images of our time.
Wilhelm Uhde was an outstanding art critic and dealer who was born during Van Gogh's lifetime and witnessed at first hand his rise to fame at the beginning of the twentieth century. His masterly essay was first published in 1937 and remains one of the best introductions to Van Gogh's work. For this revised and expanded edition, the notes to the plates were added by Griselda Pollock, Professor of Social and Critical Histories of Art at the University of Leeds.
Dali
Salvador Dali (1904-89) is one of the most controversial and paradoxical artists of the twentieth century. A painter of considerable virtuosity, he used a traditional illusionistic style to create disturbing images filled with references to violence, death, cannibalism and bizarre sexual practices, from the extraordinary fluid watches in The Persistence of Memory to the gruesome monster in Soft Construction with Boiled Beans and the fetishistic lobster in the famous Lobster Telephone. Born in Figueras, Spain, Dali started out as a Cubist, but subsequently became involved with the Surrealists in Paris, the most revolutionary artists of the time. They regarded his paintings as revealing the hidden world of the unconscious. Indeed, the Surrealists' leader, Andre Breton, remarked: "It is perhaps with Dali that for the first time the windows of the mind are opened fully wide". However, Breton later expelled him from the group for his Fascist sympathies and derided his commercial success in the United States, calling him "Avida Dollars", an anagram of his name. Dali's response was equally curt: "The difference between me will the Surrealists is that I am a Surrealist". Far from restricting his interests to painting, Dali also wrote two autobiographies, including "Diary of a Genius" (1965), designed sets and costumes for a play by his friend Federico Garcia Lorca and collaborated with Luis Bunuel on the films "Un Chien Andalou" (1929) and "L'Age d'or" (1931), a medium which proved particularly apt for his provocative imagery.

The author
Stefan Fischer studied art history, history, and classical archaeology in Münster, Amsterdam, and Bonn. In 2009 he completed his doctoral thesis “Hieronymus Bosch: Malerei als Vision, Lehrbild und Kunstwerk.” His specialist fields are Netherlandish painting of the 15th to the 17th centuries and museology.
