Tato kniha je vůbec první monografií zajímavého umělce ukrajinského původu, který se začátkem dvacátých let natrvalo usadil v Praze. Po více méně epizodních spolupracích s prvorepublikovými nakladatelstvími J. R. Vilímka, Šolce a Šimáčka, Rebecově nakladatelství a několika dalších začal Wowk úzce spolupracovat s vršovickým nakladatelstvím Toužimský & Moravec. Stal se spolu s malířem Zdeňkem Burianem důležitým kmenovým ilustrátorem a jeho kresby doprovázely více než sto titulů firmy. Jeho ilustrace do cyklů Tarzan, Biggles, Nobody, či westernů Maxe Branda se staly legendárními.

Hollywood legend John Malkovich may seem like an unlikely choice for an artist's muse, but American photographer Sandro Miller declares him "a photographer's dream." Miller (born 1958) has been finding inspiration in the Academy Award-nominated actor since the two first met in 1999. In their latest collaboration, Miller pays homage to the great photographers of past and present, with Malkovich as his sole model, in their recreations of 41 iconic portraits. The project is a testament to both Miller's skill as a photographer and Malkovich's chameleon-esque acting ability. With months of research in addition to accurate costumes and makeup application, Miller's recreations are delightfully exact in their lighting and editing, while Malkovich seems to easily inhabit the original subjects no matter who he is meant to portray. He appears as the titular migrant mother in Dorothea Lange's Depression-era portrait, as a bewigged Andy Warhol cast in crimson and as both sisters in Diane Arbus' infamous Identical Twins, Roselle, New Jersey, matching with himself in a wide-collared dress and lace stockings. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, Miller manages to breathe new life into some of the world's most recognizable images in this playful take on the history of photography's intersection with pop culture.

Warhol
Andy Warhol je hlavný predstaviteľ popartového hnutia. Ako kreatívny a kritický pozorovateľ americkej spoločnosti dokázal stvárniť aktuálne témy, ako sú spotreba, materializmus, médiá a celebrity. Venoval sa reklame, komiksom, potlači predmetov bežnej spotreby, portrétoval najslávnejšie tváre Hollywoodu, a tým všetkým prispel k radikálnemu prehodnoteniu toho, čo je a čo nie je umelecké dielo. Práve vďaka Warholovi sa plechovka Campbellovej polievky a fľaša Coca-Coly stali objektami s rovnakou umeleckou hodnotou ako predmety na klasických zátišiach.
Spolu s tým Warhol radikálne zmenil vnímanie samotného umelca. Svojou slávnou vetou „chcem byť stroj“ dal najavo opovrhnutie voči konceptu autorstva. Pracoval metódami masovej produkcie, mal desiatky asistentov a svoje štúdio rád nazýval fabrikou. Táto kniha prináša pohľad do Warholovho rozsiahleho a pestrofarebného životného diela, ktoré do umenia vnieslo témy ako bývanie, výroba a konzum, a tak úplne prehodnotilo vnímanie „vysokého“ a „nízkeho“ umenia.

Povinnost vést stavební deník vyplývá ze zákona. Je-li veden výtvarníkem, není divu, že smíchá technická data s vlastní fantazií. Iracionální představy mají větší naléhavost než suchý pracovní výkaz. Polovinu knihy tvoří 36 kreseb tesařskou, zednickou a truhlářskou tužkou, formát je čtvercový o straně 20 cm: geometricky univerzální dlaždicová kukátka otevírají čtenáři poněkud patafyzický pohled na průběh stavby v Jižních Čechách.
Autorská knížka Františka Štorma Stavitelé je volnou kompilací všedních zápisků a vnitřních pocitů zažívaných během rekonstrukce starého domu, jehož hlavní část se právě proměňuje v ateliér. Anticipace tvůrčího prostoru vyvolává řadu barvitých představ zachycených v cyklu ilustrací. Na pozadí banálního chalupaření se odehrávají existenciální dramata umocněná návštěvami podivných tvorů na staveništi. Autor ztotožňuje své tělo s domem a vyhlíží ukončení stavby jako zahojení jizev po bagrech, kladivech i pilách. Umělec přinucený okolnostmi k manuální práci je na konci martyria odměněn novou inspirací, která přijde z nečekaného směru - od stavitelů.

Kniha je již třetí výběr z textů Zdeňka Lukeše, které byly publikovány v sobotní příloze Orientace v Lidových novinách, tentokrát v letech 20172020. Přibližuje svět architektury zhruba od druhé poloviny 19. století až do současnosti a vedle hvězdných autorů, jako jsou Jan Kotěra, Josef Gočár, Otakar Novotný, Dušan Jurkovič nebo Otto Wagner, Antoni Gaudí a Le Corbusier, defilují zde také Karl Ernstberger, Otto a Karl Kohnovi, Otto Reichner, František Kavalír, Ladislav Skřivánek či Thomas Short, tedy jména dnes už prakticky neznámá. Late Works of J. M. W. Turner: The Artist and his Critics

The paintings and drawings Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1851) produced from 1835 to his death in 1851 are seen by many as his most audacious and compelling work, a typical example of "late style." In this study, Sam Smiles goes beyond late style, with its focus on formal qualities and assumptions about personal expression, as an explanatory framework for Turner's late works. Instead, he argues that Turner, in his final fifteen years, was an artist entirely engaged with his own times.
Smiles examines the artist's critical reception in these years and scrutinizes accounts that presumed Turner's physical and mental health collapsed in his seventies, to see what can be reliably said about his work as he aged. Emerging from this study is an artist who used his final years to consolidate the principles that had motivated him throughout his career.
Flower Art: Makoto Azuma
The art of Makoto Azuma uses flowers and plants as its starting point, but juxtaposes their timeless yet transient beauty with an incredibly diverse range of striking settings. In a series of sculptures, installations and interactive events, he delights in blurring the boundaries between nature and artifice. Azuma founded the floral atelier Jardins des Fleurs in 2002, taking commissions from private clients as well as brands and corporations, both in Japan and all over the world.
