Sochařka, která v českém umění zanechala svůj otisk Dílo Evy Kmentové (1928—1980) tvoří oblouk od realistických soch přes různé podoby figurativního modernismu až po polohu souznící se světovými projevy nového realismu. Sochy modelovala z hlíny a odlévala do sádry, pracovala s betonem, kamenem, cínem nebo hliníkem. V šedesátých letech se dotkla strukturální abstrakce a později se opakovaně vracela k otisku nebo odlitku těla či tělesného fragmentu. Často zachycovala momenty života nazíraného ženskou perspektivou. Samostatnou linii tvoří její kresby, jež můžeme považovat za jakési deníkové záznamy. Práce Evy Kmentové je nutno vnímat feministickou perspektivou a řadit ji k autorkám, které v českém umění předznamenaly zájem o genderové otázky. Souvisely s prosazováním umělecké i partnerské rovnoprávnosti, touhou po samostatnosti a v neposlední řadě s hledáním milostného naplnění.

Kniha Teorém kamenné zahrady unikátním způsobem mapuje prostředí střešovického ateliéru Bohumila Kafky s přilehlou zahradou, přičemž hranice mezi oběma prostory je nejasná a propustná. Kniha znejišťuje jak utilitární vnímání místa, tak jeho jasně konturovanou interpretaci. Místo toho nabízí reflexivní, tázající se přístup, odkazující ke konceptům jako je poetika prostoru, kulturní paměť nebo genius loci. „Ateliér“ a „zahrada“ se stávají nejednoznačnými, živoucími pojmy, které kniha ohledává v několika vrstvách tak, že vytvářejí vlastní polyfonní dialog. Hiroshige & Eisen The Sixty-Nine Stations Along the Kisokaido
The Kisokaido route through Japan was ordained in the early 1600s by the country's then-ruler Tokugawa Ieyasu, who decreed that staging posts be installed along the length of the arduous passage between Edo (present-day Tokyo) and Kyoto. Inns, shops, and restaurants were established to provide sustenance and lodging to weary travelers. In 1835, renowned woodblock print artist Keisai Eisen was commissioned to create a series of works to chart the Kisokaido journey. After producing 24 prints, Eisen was replaced by Utagawa Hiroshige, who completed the series of 70 prints in 1838.
Both Eisen and Hiroshige were master print practitioners. In The Sixty-Nine Stations along the Kisokaido, we find the artists' distinct styles as much as their shared expertise. From the busy starting post of Nihonbashi to the castle town of Iwamurata, Eisen opts for a more muted palette but excels in figuration, particularly of glamorous women, and relishes snapshots of activity along the route, from shoeing a horse to winnowing rice. Hiroshige demonstrates his mastery of landscape with grandiose and evocative scenes, whether it's the peaceful banks of the Ota River, the forbidding Wada Pass, or a moonlit ascent between Yawata and Mochizuki.
Taken as a whole, The Sixty-Nine Stations collection represents not only a masterpiece of woodblock practice, including bold compositions and an experimental use of color, but also a charming tapestry of 19th-century Japan, long before the specter of industrialization. This TASCHEN volume is sourced from one of the finest surviving first editions and revives the series in our compact anniversary edition.
Poválečná architektura jako památka
Na stavby postavené v letech 1945–1989 stále ještě nepanuje jednotný názor. Přitom již od jejich vzniku uplynulo několik desítek let, tedy doba, kterou odborná i širší veřejnost často podmiňuje nárok na památkovou ochranu. Cílem publikace je přiblížit roli Národního památkového ústavu (NPÚ) v péči o poválečnou architekturu a objasnit výzvy a problémy, kterým v této oblasti čelí. Katalog stejnojmenné výstavy je členěn do několika kapitol podle charakteru činností NPÚ, k nimž patří vytipovávání potenciálních nových památek, vedení jejich seznamu a v neposlední řadě také dozor při rekonstrukcích. Hlavní část katalogu pak pojednává o pražském metru, jemuž se autoři věnovali v rámci výzkumu v posledních letech. Soustředí se na původní architektonické řešení tohoto nejrozsáhlejšího veřejného interiéru, který v období normalizace v Československu vznikl, a na jeho památkový potenciál. Posláním publikace je rozšířit povědomí o hodnotách nedávné, ale rychle mizející architektonické vrstvy.
Loutka mezi divadlem, filmem a televizí
Obsáhlá kniha pojednává o vedené loutce v českém filmu a televizi. O prostředcích výtvarného divadelního a filmového jazyka v oblasti loutkové inscenace, seriálu, filmu s divadelními loutkami, zejména v Československé televizi, České televizi a Krátkém filmu mezi lety 1950–2020. Chronologicky po desetiletích sleduje, jak se scénografické pojetí i filmové tvarosloví inscenací a filmů s divadelními loutkami vyrovnávalo s dobovou zkušeností divadla a poetikou filmové loutkové animace. Za jakých okolností a s kterými autory vznikal a postupně se etabloval osobitý loutkářský výtvarný televizní a filmový jazyk. Analyzuje základní tendence, které posouvaly scénografické postupy k tvořivosti a fantazii – černé divadlo, ekranizaci, masky, herce vedle loutky a další, které ve své době značně rozšířily i sám pojem loutkového divadla. Obrazová publikace přinášející stovky archivních snímků slavných loutkových pořadů od Večerníčků až po filmy Jana Švankmajera vychází v nápaditém designu Petra Babáka a Lukáše Kijonky z grafického studia Laboratoř.
Publikace se zároveň pokouší vyplnit jisté vakuum historiografické a teoreticko-estetické literatury v oblasti televizní, filmové a jiné mediální loutkářské tvorby. Vychází především z důkladného průzkumu archivů a na základě faktografického materiálu představuje, pokud možno obsažný a zároveň komplexní přehled zásadních progresivních počinů v tomto oboru, který doplňují analytické a zobecňující teoretické závěry. Výtvarník, fotograf, prozaik a teoretik Václav Zykmund (1914–1984) byl významnou osobností českého i moravského kulturního života. Letos to bude 110 let od jeho narození a 40 let od úmrtí. Studie o jeho neznámé animované i privátní tvorbě vychází z novějšího původního výzkumu materiálů k historii a činnosti brněnského studia loutkového filmu z let 1949–1953 z archivu NFA.
