An encyclopedic exploration of all facets of the fashion show, from its beginnings around 1900 to the present day.
Fashion shows are special moments in the fashion industry – simultaneously ritualistic and dreamlike, both commercial and poetic. Their images spread across the globe in real time, shaping our cultural memory. Stage design, performance, clothing, light, and sound come together to form a temporary Gesamtkunstwerk – a comprehensive artwork.
The exhibition »Catwalk« offers a look behind-the-scenes and explores the fascinating evolution of the fashion show: from its modest beginnings in couturiers’ salons around 1900 to the spectacular presentations of the twenty-first century; from haute couture to pret-a-porter; from the era of supermodels to the celebration of diversity; from classic catwalk photography to the virtual fashion show.
The exhibition catalog is conceived as an encyclopedic A to Z and sheds light on the fashion show phenomenon and its history in all its facets, from backstage to front row, from model to performance, from pose to vogueing. In text contributions and interviews, the book gives numerous experts and protagonists from the fashion world a chance to have their say. Illustrations range from archival materials and fashion show ephemera to backstage and catwalk photography.
ÚĽUV 1945-1989
Ústredie ľudovej umeleckej výroby (ÚĽUV) zohralo dôležitú rolu v oblasti ľudovej umeleckej výroby a dizajnu. Publikácia približuje činnosť tejto organizácie v rokoch 1945 - 1989, jej vznik, fungovanie, ako aj významné osobnosti, ktoré ju formovali. Kolektív českých a slovenských autorov predstavuje dôležité fenomény previazané s históriou ÚĽUV-u v oblasti výskumu, výroby, výstavnej aj publikačnej činnosti. Základným princípom ÚĽUV-u v týchto rokoch bolo mapovanie tradičnej ľudovej výroby v pôvodnom vidieckom prostredí a následný aktívny rozvoj produkcie, postavený na úzkej spolupráci medzi výtvarníkmi a remeselníkmi. Publikácia vychádza pri príležitosti 80. výročia jeho založenia. Súčasťou je bohatá fotografická dokumentácia aj rozhovory s pamätníkmi. Kniha je dvojjazyčná, texty sú v slovenčine a češtine.

Bob Dylan is a master at telling stories, creating moods and provoking feelings – not only in music and the written word but also in visual art, which he has been creating since the 1960s. This publication of his art features nearly 100 black-and-white drawings that were completed between 2021 and 2022 and served as the basis for his latest exhibition – also titled Point Blank – at London's Halcyon Gallery in early 2025.
The works vary between portraits, still lifes and landscapes: roller-skating lovers, a suit of armour, a suspension bridge, a karaoke singer, a roll of Scotch tape, a Parisian canal, a man with a crooked smile. Accompanying the artwork are short prose vignettes written by Eddie Gorodetsky, Jackie Hamilton and Lucy Sante that further enhance the images' evocativeness. Dylan's ability to find beauty and mystery in the seemingly mundane is one of his great gifts – and the gift he's continually given to the public over the years, including now with Point Blank.
