Vitvar zve čtenáře na zábavnou a dobrodružnou cestu po dějinách vizuální kultury, která ukazuje, že naše chápání umění mnohdy vede přes fatální nepochopení.
Sponzor londýnské Tate Britain se nevydržel dívat na rozházenou postel na přehlídce finalistů Turner Prize a raději ji ustlal. Ve skutečnosti šlo o konceptuální dílo Tracey Eminové. Řečiště a vlna
Problematika životního prostředí dnes patří v českém umění k horkým tématům a stále zřetelněji ovlivňuje uvažování a jednání mnoha autorů a autorek, institucí i jejich návštěvníků. Není to však tak dávno, co zde environmentální rozprava hrála jen marginální roli. Co se změnilo? Kdy, jak a proč se k ní začala obracet pozornost? Právě tento historický proces ozeleňování českého umění je ústředním tématem předkládané knihy.
Ta volně navazuje na Navrátilovu starší publikaci Zelené ostrovy: České umění ve věku environmentalismu 19602000. Doplňuje některé dávnější počiny, které byly v předchozím textu opominuty reakci umělců na devastaci těžbou a průmyslem postižených regionů nebo naslouchání přírodě umělkyně Olgy Karlíkové. Hlavní pozornost se však obrací k novému tisíciletí, kdy můžeme zvláště od počátku druhého desetiletí sledovat postupný nárůst zájmu o environmentální problematiku. Ten staví jednotlivce i širší uměleckou scénu před řadu nových výzev, ať už je to potřeba orientace ve spletitém prostoru diskurzů vědy, filozofie a politiky, nutnost promýšlet alternativy vlastních tvůrčích, provozních i životních strategií, nebo aktualizace otázek společenské zodpovědností umělců a umění. Reakce na ně jsou zde přiblíženy prostřednictvím několika příběhů, které představují vybrané tvůrce, díla a další aktéry. Čtenář může sledovat úsilí naladit naše vnímání na podmínky antropocénu nebo kritické hlasy napadající antropocentrismus, konzum a politicko-ekonomické systémy. Další projekty zdůrazňují péči o provázané přírodní a kulturní ekosystémy, mají edukační ambice či jsou vedeny zájmem o kosmologie původních obyvatel pralesů rovníkového pásma. K novějším podnětům pak patří zvláště myšlenky spekulativní filozofie a posthumanismu nebo apely klimatické krize a s ní spjatého hnutí. V knize jsou tak postupně charakterizována různá řečiště, která dodávají energii a inspiraci současné umělecké environmentální vlně.
Divadlo ulice / Theatre of the Street
Teoretik Karel Teige ve dvacátých letech minulého století použil slovní metaforu divadlo ulice pro pulzující, dynamický vizuálně-akustický děj, který se tou dobou odehrával v centrech větších měst. Měl tím na mysli nejen všudypřítomný dopravní lomoz a ruch, ale i novou urbánní ikonografii, kterou tvořily vývěsní štíty, portály obchodů, osvětlené výkladní skříně, fasádní velkoplošná reklama a blikající neony.
Výkladní skříně s rafinovaně aranžovaným zbožím neušly pozornosti surrealistů, kteří obdivovali jejich absurdní a vynalézavé sestavy, světelné iluminace byly blízké experimentům konstruktivistů, reklamy a nápisy vycházely z moderní typografie a osvědčených postupů, jak získat pozornost kolemjdoucích a flanérů.Pro pochopení meziválečného modernismu představuje ono pomíjivé divadlo ulice klíčové téma, přesto se tato oblast nestala nikterak rozšířeným námětem pro odborné studie.
Tato kniha se snaží najít průsečík mezi obchodem a uměním, mezi nízkým a vysokým, mezi popkulturou, komerční propagací a nezávislou tvorbou.
Publikace obsahuje pět odborných studií, které reklamní praktiky prezentují v kontextu výtvarného umění, architektury, fotografie, filmu a nových technologií spjatých s elektrifikací měst. Místně a časově se studie soustřeďují na rámec Československa vymezený lety 1918-1938 s výběrovými odkazy na evropské relace.

Jiří Hauschka (narozen 1965 v Šumperku) se obrací k tomu typu malířství, pro které jsou důležité barvy a symbolické konotace, tak jak tomu bylo na přelomu 19. a 20. století v tomto období se Jiří Hauschka vztahuje zejména ke kanadskému malíři Tomovi Thomsonovi, který žil v letech 1877 až 1917 či jak se děje v ateliérech soudobých autorů, jako jsou kupříkladu Daniel Richter nebo Peter Doig. Realita se proměňuje v malířské naraci na vrstevnaté vyprávění, kde se mísí umělecká paměť s novými zážitky, pohledy, touhami, citovými zjitřeními. V případě Jiřího Hauschky se ocitáme v divočině, v divočině malířské nostalgie, kde hledáme člověka, a v urbánní civilizaci, v té civilizaci, která je na pokraji svých možností a kde tak cítíme a vidíme barvy divočiny.

Jiří Hauschka (born 1965 in Šumperk) turns to this type of painting method that utilizes colours and symbolic connotations, prevalent at the turn of the 20th century he positions himself in that period next to the Canadian painter Tom Thomson (18771917) and used by contemporary painters such as Daniel Richter or Peter Doig. Reality is transformed by the painters narration into layered storytelling, where the artists memory is interspersed with new experiences, views, desires and emotional turbulences. In the case of Jiri Hauschka, we find ourselves in the wilderness of painter nostalgia, where we look for the conceptual person, and in urban civilization, which has barely any options left and where we can therefore feel and see the colours of wilderness.
The authors of the texts are Martin Dostál and the famous British art historian Edward Lucie-Smith.

Airports are places with multi-layered identities that millions of people pass through and where cultures meet: On the one hand, the history and the design heritage of the particular country can be identified and local characteristics are intensified and reinforced almost stereotypically. On the other hand, airports represent hypermodern functional environments in which processes are internationally standardized and maximally efficient, with a strong emphasis on entertainment and consumption. Guidance systems navigate people through airports. The graphic language creates an image in the viewer’s head carrying the respective identity in its own compact form through color, fonts, and pictograms.
