Psychoanalyst Meets Marina Abramovic
In summer 2015, performance artist Marina Abramovic and psychoanalyst Jeannette Fischer spent four days together at Abramovic's house in the Hudson Valley. Associating freely, they explored - from a psychoanalytical perspective - Abramovic's biography and art and what connects them.
A better understanding of herself, her personality and her work, was Abramovic's objective. She claims that conversations with artists abound, with one curator saying this and another saying that. Yet there is no book in which psychoanalysis puts her life and artistic work in context.
This new book aims to fill this gap. Yet it is not a therapist's report, nor a record of Fischer's analysis of Abramovic. It records the dialogue between artist and analyst attempting an interpretation of Abramovic's extraordinary violent performances that sometimes reach the brink of faint, even death. The two search for an understanding of the underlying structures and dynamics. Abramovic performs relationships, and she performs violence, yet she remains on her own in facing the pain and fear about it.
The book is arranged in a sequence of dialogues, separated by Fischer's comments on and images of four of Abramovic's performances to which the psychoanalyst refers.

Victor Horta
Victor Horta (1861–1947) is well known as the creator of Art Nouveau architecture. Following the design of the Hôtel Tassel, Brussels, in 1893, Horta produced more than 40 buildings during the following decade. This new book discusses the many influences on his designs, and his legacy. Detailed descriptions of 19 projects, including Edicule Lambeaux, Hôtel Autrique, Hôtel Max Hallet and the Brugmann Hospital, are illustrated with Horta’s original drawings and specially commissioned photographs by award-winning architectural photographer Alastair Carew-Cox. Andy Warhols The Chelsea Girls
Andy Warhol’s The Chelsea Girls had its premiere at the Film-Maker’s Cinématheque on 15 September 1966. It sold out a 200-seat theatre and went on to become the first film to move from the underground to commercial cinema. Since 1972, when Warhol pulled all of his films out of distribution, the public has had extremely limited access to The Chelsea Girls , outside of museum screenings. In honour of the 20th Anniversary of The Andy Warhol Museum and what would have been Warhol’s 85th birthday, hundreds of Warhol’s films – some never seen before – have been converted to a digital format with the partnership of The Andy Warhol Museum, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Moving Picture Company (MPC), a Technicolor Company.
This book is an in-depth look at Warhol’s most famous film. It includes all newly digitized film stills, never-before-published transcripts, unpublished archival materials, and expanded information about each of the individual films that comprise the three- plus hour film. As the film alternates sound between the left and right screens, the book reproduces the transcript in complete form as one hears it, with imagery from the corresponding reels. Fotografie především
Dějiny fotografie by mohly být zároveň dějinami zápasu o její uznání jako takzvaného vysokého umění. To přišlo velmi pozdě a se stejným zpožděním se na fotografii začalo nahlížet jako na sbírkový umělecký předmět hodný zájmu historiků umění.
V domácím, ale i ve světovém kontextu byla jednou z prvních institucí, jež fotografii v tomto ohledu vzala na milost Moravská galerie v Brně, kam do čela sbírky fotografie nastoupil v roce 1968 Antonín Dufek a jako emeritní kurátor zde působí dodnes.
Z velké části to byla právě jeho činnost, která české (a slovenské) fotografii vytvořila pevné místo v rámci dějin umění a také dokázala českou fotografii zviditelnit a proslavit v zahraničí.
Tato publikace je tak poctou osobnosti Antonína Dufka a jak jinak, je zcela věnována fotografii.

The Spirit of the Bauhaus
‘Architects, sculptors, painters, we all must return to the crafts!’ declared the architect Walter Gropius in his Bauhaus manifesto. Founded as an art school in 1919 and forced to close in 1933 by the Nazis, the Bauhaus established itself as a major influence on 20th-century art and design that continues to this day.
