Čas v súvislostiach
V poradí štvrtá kniha série o slovenskom výtvarnom umení z pera Jiřiny Diváckej Čas v súvislostiach má podtitul Slovenská postmoderna a jej výtvarné fenomény. Opäť v slovensko-anglickej mutácii predstavuje verejnosti 17 predstaviteľov súčasnej maliarskej a sochárskej slovenskej scény. Žiaľ, i keď ide o súčasných autorov, jeden z nich, profesor Jozef Jankovič nás pred niekoľkými mesiacmi opustil a vydania knihy, ktorú podporoval, sa nedožil. Profesor Ivan Csudai a jeho žiaci, docent Milan Lukáč, významný predstaviteľ súčasného sochárstva - či najmladší - sochárka Jana Brisudová, maliarka Noémi Kolčáková- Szakállová, alebo Júlia Haluzová a ich tvorba – to všetko sú fenomény dnes už nielen doma, ale aj za hranicami. Werner’s Nomenclature of Colours
First published in 1814, Werner's Nomenclature of Colours is a taxonomic guide to the colors of the natural world that has been cherished by artists and scientists for more than two centuries. This new edition brings the classic work back to life.
In the late eighteenth century, mineralogist Abraham Gottlob Werner devised a standardized color scheme that allowed him to describe even the subtlest of chromatic differences with consistent terminology. His scheme was then adapted by an Edinburgh flower painter, Patrick Syme, who used the actual minerals described by Werner to create the color charts in the book, enhancing them with examples from flora and fauna.
In the pre-photographic age, almost all visual details had to be captured via the written word, and scientific observers could not afford ambiguity in their descriptions. Werner's handbook became an invaluable resource for naturalists and anthropologists, including Charles Darwin, who used it to identify colors in nature during his seminal voyage on the HMS Beagle. Či už sa v zemitých farbách pred naším zrakom rozprestrie známa dedinka, alebo sa roztancujú masky, príbehy vyrozprávané vlastnou umeleckou rečou sú zrozumiteľné a nesmrteľné. Katalóg k výstave podáva Kompánkovu tvorbu ako rozpomínanie, ktoré je kľúčom k výberu tém a k spôsobu zachytenia skutočnosti pretavenej do výtvarnej skratky.
Vladimír Kompánek sa narodil 28. októbra 1927 v Rajci. Študoval na Slovenskej vysokej škole technickej v Bratislave na oddelení kreslenia a maľovania u prof. Gustáva Mallého, Jána Mudrocha a Kolomana Sokola. V roku 1949 nastúpil na novozaloženú Vysokú školu výtvarných umení v Bratislave (prof. Dezider Milly a Jozef Kostka). Ako jeden zo zakladateľov Skupiny Mikuláša Galandu nadviazal vo výtvarnom prejave na dielo najprogresívnejších umelcov slovenskej výtvarnej moderny. Kompánek uvedomelo razil cestu modernému umeniu, pričom dokázal pravdivo čerpať z vlastných koreňov – rajeckých, národných aj ľudských.
Publikácia slúži ako katalóg k výstave v Galérii Nedbalka.
Kostel Panny Marie na Pražském hradě
Kostel Panny Marie na Pražském hradě patřil k nejhledanějším památkám Čech již od druhé poloviny 19. století. Do bouřlivé názorové výměny nad jeho polohou a významem se postupně zapojili snad všichni přední znalci raného středověku. Mariánský svatostánek totiž naposledy zmiňuje tzv. Dalimilova kronika, jejíž vznik bývá zpravidla kladen nedlouho za rok 1300. O něco později kostel zanikl a jeho poloha upadla v zapomnění. Objevit se jej podařilo až výzkumem, který roku 1950 vedl Ivan Borkovský. Nevelký objekt zakončený apsidou o rozměrech zhruba 7,5 × 6 m byl však natolik poničen, že se jeho původní podoba i stavební vývoj vzpírají jednoznačné interpretaci. Osmička archeologů, historiků, lingvistů, religionistů a uměleckých historiků (Iva Adámková, Nora Berend, Jiří Dynda, Jan Frolík, Jana Maříková-Kubková, Dalibor Prix, Ivo Štefan a Martin Wihoda) se nyní zamýšlí nad možnostmi a mezemi výkladu a pokouší se provázat Borkovského objev s christianizací Čechů.

Joel Meyerowitz - Where I Find Myself
Where I Find Myself is the first major single book retrospective of one of America's leading photographers. As the title indicates, it is organized in inverse chronological order and spans the photographer's whole career to date.
It covers all of Meyerowitz's great projects: his work inspired by the artist Morandi, his work on trees, his exclusive coverage of Ground Zero, his trips in the footsteps of Robert Frank across the US, his experiments comparing colour and black and white pictures, and of course his iconic street photography work.

Curatorial Activism
Only 16% of the most recent Venice Biennale artists were female. A mere 14% of MoMA’s 2016 display is by non-white artists. Only one third of artists represented by US galleries are female, but over two-thirds of the enrolment in art and art-history programmes is young women… The fight for gender and race equality in the art world is far from over. Indeed, the more closely one examines the numbers, the more glaring it becomes that white, Euro-American, heterosexual, privileged and, above all, male artists continue to dominate the art world.
