Publikace Architektura Albrechta z Valdštejna: Italská stavební kultura v Čechách v letech 1600–1635, zpracovaná kolektivem autorů pod vedením Petra Uličného, seznamuje v dosud nebývalém rozsahu se stavebními podniky frýdlantského vévody, s jeho architekty a také s dalšími pozoruhodnými stavbami vznikajícími v té době v českých zemích. V druhém plánu se tu zjevuje v novém kontextu i složitá osobnost stavebníka a jeho jedinečný příspěvek k formování profilu vlastních staveb. Toto neobyčejně důkladné a zároveň inspirativní dílo se vyznačuje několika prvenstvími. Poprvé je tu představena Valdštejnova architektura v plné šíři od prvních fundací na Moravě před Bílou horou až po násilné ukončení vévodova života v roce 1634, přičemž těžiště knihy leží ve vylíčení historie pražského paláce a jičínských projektů. Poprvé jsou tu také prakticky v úplnosti vytěženy prameny z českých i zahraničních archivů, umožňující sledovat například postup stavby jičínského zámku takřka den po dni. Díky svým mimořádným znalostem dobových architektonických forem pak Petr Uličný odkrývá či naznačuje mnohdy nečekané souvislosti s evropskou architekturou oné doby. Merce Cunningham
How Cunningham transformed postwar culture through collaboration Renowned as both choreographer and dancer, Merce Cunningham (1919-2009) also revolutionized dance through his partnerships with the many artists who created costumes, lighting, films and videos, and decor and sound for his choreographic works. Cunningham, together with partner John Cage, invited those artists to help him rethink what dance could mean, both on the stage and in site-responsive contexts. His notion that movement, sound and visual art could share a "common time" remains one of the most radical aesthetic models of the 20th century and yielded extraordinary works by dozens of artists and composers, including Charles Atlas, John Cage, Morris Graves, Jasper Johns, Rei Kawakubo, Robert Morris, Gordon Mumma, Bruce Nauman, Ernesto Neto, Pauline Oliveros, Nam June Paik, Robert Rauschenberg, Frank Stella, David Tudor, Stan VanDerBeek, Andy Warhol and La Monte Young, among many others. These collaborations bring to the fore Cunningham's direct impact upon postwar artistic practice. This 456-page volume, published in conjunction with the Walker Art Center and MCA Chicago's exhibition, reconsiders the choreographer and his collaborators as an extraordinarily generative interdisciplinary network that preceded and predicted dramatic shifts in performance, including the development of site-specific dance, the use of technology as a choreographic tool and the radical separation of sound and movement in dance. Soviet propaganda against the demon drink: the latest in Fuel's Russian pop culture series
From the acclaimed authors of the Russian Criminal Tattoo Encyclopaedias and Soviet Space Dogs comes Alcohol, a glorious and exhaustive collection of previously unpublished Soviet anti-alcohol posters. The book includes examples from the 1960s through to the 1980s, but focuses on posters produced during Mikhail Gorbachev's campaign initiated in 1985. These posters attempted to sober up Soviet citizens by forcing them to confront the issues associated with excessive alcohol consumption. This government-led urgency allowed the poster designers to present the anti-alcohol message in the most graphic terms: they depicted drunks literally trapped inside the bottle or being strangled by "the green snake." Their protagonists are paralytic freeloaders and shirkers who always neglect their families, drive under the influence, produce substandard work, are smashed when pregnant and present a constant danger to fellow citizens. A two-part essay by renowned cultural historian Alexei Plutser-Sarno attempts to explain, from a Russian perspective, the reasons behind this phenomenon.

Tématem rozhovorů jsou vzpomínky na léta strávená v AMU, na činnost na jednotlivých fakultách, na kolegy i na výrazné postavy z řad studentů. Ren Hang
Hang, well hung Chinese photographer Ren lets it all Hang out Ren Hang is an unlikely rebel. Slight of build, shy by nature, prone to fits of depression, the 28-year-old Beijing photographer is nonetheless at the forefront of Chinese artists battle for creative freedom. Like his champion Ai Weiwei, Ren is controversial in his homeland and wildly popular in the rest of the world. He says, I don't really view my work as taboo, because I don't think so much in cultural context, or political context. I don t intentionally push boundaries, I just do what I do. Why? Because his models, friends, and increasingly, fans, are naked, often outdoors, high in the trees or on the terrifyingly vertiginous rooftops of Beijing, stacked like building blocks, heads wrapped in octopi, body cavities sprouting phone cords and flowers, whatever enters his mind at the moment. He denies his intentions are sexual, and there is a clean detachment about even his most extreme images: the urine, the insertions, the many, many erections. In a 2013 interview VICE magazine asked, there are a lot of dicks do you just like dicks? Ren responded, It s not just dicks I m interested in, I like to portray every organ in a fresh, vivid and emotional way. True though that may be, the penises Ren photographs are not just fresh and vivid, but unusually large, making one wonder just where he meets his friends. In the same piece, Hang also stated, Gender isn t important when I m taking pictures, it only matters to me when I m having sex, putting him at the forefront of gender inclusiveness. Young fans eagerly follow his website, Facebook, Instagram, and Flickr accounts. Henry Moore
Henry Moore has influenced the history of twentieth - century sculpture more decisively than anyone else.
