Noir
Due to the technological advances of the nineteenth century, an abundance of black drawing media exploded onto the market. Charcoal, conte crayon, and fabricated black chalks and crayons; fixatives; various papers; and many lifting devices gave rise to an unprecedented amount of experimentation. Indeed, innovation became the rule, as artists developed their own unique-and often experimental-processes. The exploration of black media in drawing is inextricably bound up with the exploration of black in prints, and this volume presents an integrated study that rises above specialization in one over the other. This richly illustrated catalogue brings together such diverse artists as Francisco de Goya, Maxime Lalanne, Gustave Courbet, Odilon Redon, and Georges Seurat and explores their inventive works on paper. Sidelining labels like "conservative" or "avant-garde," the essays in this book employ all the tools that art history and modern conservation have given us, inviting the reader to look more broadly at the artists' methods and materials. This volume accompanies an exhibition of the same name on view at the J. Paul Getty Museum from February 9 to May 15, 2016.
Kandinsky
The richness of Wassily Kandinsky's life, work and thought make him one of the leading figures of 20th-century art. He was a founder member of Der Blaue Reiter and his theories influenced many of the major artistic movements of his time, including Dada, the Bauhaus, De Stijl and Russian Constructivism. A friend of artists such as Marcel Duchamp and Paul Klee, he also had fruitful relationships with contemporary musicians including Arnold Schoenberg and Thomas de Hartmann. Nolde, Klee & der Blaue Reiter
The foundation stone for the exceptional collection of Gabriele and Anna Braglia was laid by an exhibition of German Expressionism in Venice. The collection will be made accessible to the public in Lugano starting in September. Už dávno som nečítal knihu s takým pôžitkom ako túto.
Spomedzi memoárových kníh, ktoré sa dnes ponúkajú čitateľom, má prinajmenej dve prednosti. Autor sa nasilu netíska do popredia, o to viac dominujú v jeho spomienkach spolupracovníci z iných filmových štúdií i profesií. On sám ako kameraman a režisér krátkometrážnej filmovej tvorby, obzvlášť filmového týždenníka, musel veľakrát plniť nečakané a často nemožné úlohy, často aj za dobrodružných podmienok.
S mnohými z nich sa v tejto knihe stretneme.
Druhou je jeho štýl s obrovským zmyslom pre humor, jeho kniha je kaleidoskop podivuhodných situácií i anekdotických scén, navyše naplno odhalil svoju celoživotnú lásku k slovenskému filmu, tá dýcha z každej stránky tejto pútavej knihy. Nie náhodou sa začína i končí zamysleniami nad trpkým osudom Mekky slovenského filmu – ateliérov na Kolibe.
