Steinweiss
Alex Steinweiss invented the album cover as we know it. In 1940, as Columbia Records' young new art director, he pitched an idea: Why not replace the standard plain brown wrapper with an eye-catching illustration? The company took a chance, and within months its record sales increased by over 800 per cent. Over the next three decades, Steinweiss made thousands of original artworks for classical, jazz, and popular record covers for Columbia, Decca, London, and Everest; as well as logos, labels, advertising material, even his own typeface, the Steinweiss Scrawl. His daring designs, gathered here in all their bright combinations of bold typography with modern, elegant illustration, revolutionized the way music was sold. Milan Dobeš je zriedkavým prípadom slovenského umelca, ktorý sa etabloval na medzinárodnej výtvarnej scéne už v polovici šesťdesiatych rokov minulého storočia. Po ranom období ovplyvnenom impresionizmom a zameranom na motívy Bratislavy sa vo svojom "modrom? období orientuje na výdobytky francúzskej moderny, sústreďuje sa na autonómnosť obrazovej plochy a jej jednotlivých štruktúr. od polovice šesťdesiatych rokov sa naplno venuje konštruktivistickej tvorbe, skúma problematiku svetla a pohybu. Svoje umelecké krédo zhŕňa do dvoch manifestov: O svetle a pohybe (1967) a O dynamickom konštruktivizme (1988). Čoskoro sa stáva jedným z najvýznamnejších predstaviteľom konštruktivizmu a kinetizmu na svete.

Mark Rothko belongs to the generation of American artists who completely revolutionized the essence of abstract painting. His stylistic evolution, from a figurative visual repertoire to an abstract style rooted in the active relationship of the observer to the painting, embodied the radical vision of a renaissance in painting.
