The area of recycling and upcycling is a rich and growing source of innovative design in the fashion and accessories industries. In a fast-fashion world of throw-away clothing, it is the ultimate expression of the slow-fashion movement, with each piece individually conceived and crafted from scratch, using different materials each time. ReFashioned features 46 international designers who work with recycled materials and discarded garments, reinvigorating them with new life and value. Jaromír Funke - Mezi konstrukcí a emocí
Jaromír Funke (1896-1945)patřil mezi novátory moderní fotografie, podobně jako Jaroslav Rössler, Man Ray, László Moholy-Nagy, Albert Renger-Patzsch, Alexander Rodčenko, Paul Strand, Edward Weston a další. Podobně jako oni se Funke - roku 1922 - vydal na cestu k abstrakci, která vyústila v jeho vlastním -ismu, "fotogenismu".
Reagoval také na kubismus a vytvořil vzorová díla nové věcnosti a konstruktivismu, stál nejblíž Bauhausu. V průběhu dvacátých let akceptoval jako jeden z prvních také iracionální směry, poetismus a surrealismus. Na Bretonově pojetí zázračného setkání založil po polovině třicátých let svoji „emoční fotografii“. Byl typickým všestranně vzdělaným intelektuálem své doby. Součástí knihy je Antologie textů Jaromíra Funkeho.
Kniha přibližuje především logiku utváření a proměn Funkeho tvorby, zasazuje Funkeho dílo do kontextu evropské avantgardní fotografie a kultury. Prokazuje, že Funke patří k jejím průkopníkům.
Jde o první velkou monografii tohoto světově proslulého fotografa. Na knize spolupracovala paní Miloslava Rupešová, dcera Jaromíra Funkeho.

Hudba v renesancii
Howard Mayer Brown napísal túto knihu s cieľom priblížiť hudbu renesančnej epochy západnej civilizácie univerzitným študentom, kolegom z iných odborov a milovníkom hudby zaujímajúcim sa o túto tému. Snažil sa v nej zodpovedať niekoľko zásadných otázok: Aké sú najvýznamnejšie črty renesančnej hudby? Kto boli jej najväčší skladatelia? Prečo boli veľkí? Čo robí túto hudbu zmysluplnou aj v našej dobe? Hodnotové súdy obsiahnuté v slovách „najvýznamnejší“ a „najväčší“ sa síce dajú spochybniť, ale Brown zastával názor, dokonca aj na sklonku života, že dejiny hudby boli určované výdobytkami jednotlivcov. Preklad druhého, revidovaného vydania tejto všeobecne uznávanej knihy dopĺňa rad publikácií o jednotlivých hudobných štýlových epochách, vydaných Hudobným centrom (Hudba stredoveku, Klasicizmus) alebo vydavateľstvom OPUS (Hudba v období baroka, Hudba v období romantizmu), a spolu tieto knihy tvoria kompendium dejín západnej hudby od skorého kresťanského chorálu až po prelom 19. a 20. storočia.
Lacná kniha Ponorná řeka kinematografie (-10%)
Předmětnou náplní tohoto spisku jsou skladebné postupy filmových avantgard, přičemž naše pozornost je zaměřena výhradně do oblasti filmu, jelikož tvůrčí obcování se světlachtivou filmovou matérií je zcela odlišné od práce s elektronickým obrazem či digitálními technologiemi. Nejedná se však o žádné souhrnné dějiny tohoto oboru, nýbrž o text sepsaný v žánru tradičně označovaném jako odborná poezie. Hlavním vkladem tohoto textu je zarámované rozčlenění jednotlivých proudů filmové avantgardy do šesti oborů, na základě jejich vztahu k použitým výrazovým prostředkům. Pořadí jednotlivých kapitol je voleno tak, že začínáme strukturálním filmem, který je nejvíce, jak možno, vzdálen jakékoli narativnosti i asociativnosti, což jsou dvě hliněné nohy, o které se opírá sšelmilá kinematografie, a to lhostejno, zda jde o produkty z celin někdejší zapomenuté kalifornské vesničky či z „auteurských“ kavárenských pisoárů pařížských, berlínských či pražských.
Od strukturálního filmu pak pokračujeme absolutním (der absolute Film) a čistým filmem (cinéma pur), které byly historicky prvními zjevy filmové avantgardy. Přes sklížený film (assemblage film), jehož společným jmenovatelem je dávat nový význam nalezeným fragmentům, dospíváme k spontánnímu filmu, ve kterém je výsledná montáž bezprostředně spjata s aktem natáčení, a dále až k avantgardnímu filmu v užším slova smyslu, v němž diváci snadno nalézají jisté odlesky stereotypů, známých jim z dominantní kinematografie, totiž vyprávění příběhu a literární symbolismus.
Závěrečná kapitola Sedmero osvětlujících řezů pak představuje úvod do teorie filmových avantgard způsobem kinogeometrickým.

How do we accommodate a growing urban population in a way that is sustainable, equitable, and inviting?
