Shalom Neuman. 40 years of Fusion Art 1967-2007
Mistr kreslíř a malíř, sochař a truhlář, filozof a futurista Shalom Neuman, posunul hranice výtvarného umění. Vložil do něj zvuky, světla a pohyb. Vznikla tak umělecká díla stvořená z obyčejných předmětů, krásná a provokativní, posvátná a rouhavá zároveň.

Kabaret Eduarda Basse
Těžiště knížky tvoří nové vydání Bassovy příručky Jak se dělá kabaret? (1917), která je ojedinělým příspěvkem k promýšlení tohoto umění ‘malých forem’ z pohledu a zkušeností aktivního kabaretiéra. Čtyřicetistránkový spisek, který členové Červené sedmy s nadsázkou nazývali ‘Korán’, doplňují také další Bassovy úvahy nad zákony ‘lehké múzy’. Divadlo vždy cílí k jednostrannému dojmu celého večera, uchvátí po zdvižení opony diváka ať již tragicky, či šprýmovně a zesiluje tento první dojem, řešíc nadhozený problém do posledních důsledků. Nuže tato jednolitost, jednostrannost dojmů není vždy člověku vhod; touží občas po změně a pestrosti, po extremitách a protikladech. Této snaze vychází vstříc kabaret a z toho hlediska jeví se nám kabaret co intimní, kulturní divadlo rozmanitostí, kterážto definice nejlépe shrnuje všechny ty různorodé složky, s nimiž si obecenstvo i odborníci u nás někdy nevěděli rady. Proto musí si teprve tvořiti u nás své podmínky, a je to útvar cizí – a proto nutno přelíti jeho formy, za hranicemi ustálené, do nového českého kadlubu, aby měl pro nás skutečně význam a hodnotu.“ (Eduard Bass)
Umění jako symbol a dekorace
Tato kniha poprvé v české odborné literatuře soustavně pojednává sochařskou i malířskou výzdobu reprezentačních staveb Prahy. Ukazuje, že socha i malba byla tradičně uznávaným partnerem architektury a že bohatství výzdoby staveb rostlo s rozvojem stylů vrcholného a pozdního historismu i se secesí. Bez figurální výzdoby se neobešla ani pozdější reprezentační architektura: Znázorňovala publiku společenské postavení a ideje jejích budovatelů i jmenovité poslání staveb.
Kniha se zaměřuje na stavby veřejné v širokém slova smyslu. O koncipování reprezentační architektury rozhodovali její objednavatelé a příslušné výsledky byly ovlivněny mimo jiné vzájemným soubojem architektů i dekoratérů, veřejnou diskusí a regulací výstavby ze strany magistrátu města. K bohatství umělecky dekorovaných staveb přispěly existence historicky samostatných měst Prahy i mohutný rozvoj jejích předměstí.
První, nejobsáhlejší část knihy je uspořádána podle poslání staveb a sleduje, jak jejich sochařská i malířská výzdoba napomáhá sdělovat jejich poselství. Druhá část se soustředí na pražská sídla finančních ústavů, které obohatily ikonografii figurální výzdoby o některé motivy, své budovy pojímaly zvláště reprezentačně a svým působením stály za celkovým rozvojem tehdejší pražské architektury.
Třetí část knihy shrnuje poznatky o strategii a programech figurální výzdoby reprezentační architektury. Týká se zejména hlavních prvků figurální výzdoby - typických míst jejího uplatnění i bohatství zobrazovaných motivů.
Závěrečná část pojednává umělecké dekorace z hlediska jejich autorů. Nabízí přehled vůdčích sochařů i malířů a zdůrazňuje podíl architektů na konceptu figurální výzdoby.
K autorům této knihy:
Roman Prahl (*1949) je profesorem v Ústavu pro dějiny umění Filozofické fakulty Univerzity Karlovy. Zabývá se hlavně výtvarným uměním od konce 18. do počátku 20. století. Publikoval časopisecky i knižně množství prací z tohoto období a byl rovněž autorem mnoha souvisejících výstav. Patří po řadu let k pořadatelům mezioborových sympozií k české kultuře 19. století v Čechách a editorům jejich sborníků. Koncipoval několik významných kolektivních monografií, na nichž se jako autor podstatně podílel. Patří k nim zejména "Mnichov-Praha. Výtvarné umění mezi tradicí a modernou" (2012), "Grafika v Praze 1800-1830 a Josef Bergler" (2007), "Umění náhrobku v českých zemích 1780-1830" (2004), "Prag 1780-1830. Kunst und Kultur zwischen den Epochen und Völkern" (2000) a "Volné směry. Časopis pražské secese a moderny" (1993).
Petr Šámal (*1977) působí v pražské Národní galerii a v Ústavu dějin umění Akademie věd České republiky. Zabývá se výtvarným uměním i architekturou 19. století a počátku 20. století. V posledních letech se soustřeďuje k vizuální kultuře Prahy. Na toto téma publikoval řadu článků a studií. Je editorem a spoluautorem vícedílné knižní edice o domech jednotlivých částí Prahy a o jejich výzdobě. Ta začala vycházet v roce 2006 a je české kulturní veřejnosti již dobře známa.

History of Photography
This is a unique survey of photography from its origins until now. From a delivery boy to one of the most important industrialists in American history, George Eastman's career developed in a particularly American way. The founder of Kodak died in 1932, and left his house to the University of Rochester. Since 1949 the site has operated as an international museum of photography and film, and today holds the largest collection of its kind in the world. The continually expanding photography collection contains over 400,000 images and negatives - among them the work of Alfred Stieglitz, Edward Steichen, Ansel Adams and others - as well as 23,000 cinema films, five million film stills, one of the most important silent film collections, technical equipment and a library with 40,000 books on photography and film. Avedon: Murals&Portraits
