Man Ray, multitalented master of modernist imagery
Man Ray (1890–1976) was a polymath modernist, working in painting, sculpture, film, printmaking, and poetry. But it was his work in photography, with nude studies, fashion work, and portraiture that saw him pioneering a new chapter in the history of camerawork and art.
With a wide-ranging collection of both his famous and lesser-known works, this monograph gives a vivid overview of Man Ray’s multifaceted practice and photographic legacy. It traces Ray from his artistic beginnings in New York through to his central role in the Parisian avant-garde, where he featured in the first Surrealist exhibition with Jean Arp, Max Ernst, André Masson, Joan Miró, and Pablo Picasso and produced such now iconic works as Noire et blanche and Le Violon d’Ingres. Through numerous examples of still life, portraiture, and beyond, we see how Ray constantly experimented with new techniques, pushing photography out of its documentary domain into ethereal, poetic expressions through multiple exposure, solarization, and the particular brand of photograms he wittily termed “rayography.”
Hokusai's Fuji

Katsushika Hokusai’s Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji and the three volumes of his subsequent One Hundred Views of Mount Fuji show his fascination with a single motif: Mount Fuji. Hokusai’s near-obsession with Fuji was part of his hankering after artistic immortality. In Buddhist and Daoist tradition, this mountain was thought to hold the secret to eternal life, as one popular interpretation of its name suggests: fu-shi (“not death”).
Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji was produced from 1830 to 1832, when Hokusai was in his seventies and at the height of his career. Among the prints are three of the artist’s most famous: The Great Wave of Kanagawa; Fine Wind, Clear Morning; and Thunderstorm Beneath the Summit. By the time he created his second great tribute to Mount Fuji, three volumes comprising One Hundred Views of Mount Fuji, he was using the artist names “Gakyo Rojin” (“old man crazy for painting”) and “Manji” (“ten thousand things” or “everything”). Contrasting the mountain’s steadfastness and solidity with the changing world around it, Hokusai depicts Fuji through different seasons, weather conditions, and settings, and in so doing communicates an important message: while life changes, Fuji stands still.
Including all illustrations from these two masterful series, Hokusai’s Fuji also features many of Hokusai’s earlier renditions of the mountain, as well as later paintings. In this way, through Mount Fuji, this volume traces a history of Hokusai’s oeuvre.

A színpadra állított alkotások és a társadalmi interakciók már nem értelmezhetők hagyományos esztétikai, dramaturgiai, műfajelméleti, illetve szociológiai, pszichológiai, antropológiai fogalmakkal.
Nem hagyható figyelmen kívül, hogy a létrehozandó előadás kisebb vagy nagyobb emlékezetközösségnek szól, s nem ragadható meg sem a klasszikus reprezentációelméletek, sem az avantgárd, neoavantgárd, sem a posztmodern művészetelméletek modelljeivel.
Az 1960-as évek közepétől megjelent a "szakrális színház" fogalma, ami - Hankovszky Tamás szerint - "hidat ver a múlt megszentelt pillanatai és a jelen között" és a "rituális színház", amely - P. Müller Péter szavaival - a szentmise jegyeivel idézi fel a történetet.
Prontvai Vera könyvtanulmányában Pilinszky színházeszményének továbbélését és folyamatos újrateremtését realizálja. Vidnyánszky Attila rendezéseiből a Krisztus-ábrázolásokat értelmezi, Visky András színpadi játékaiban pedig az azok révén megvalósuló központi metafora térbeállítását és ennek liturgikus működését vizsgálja. This monograph shows how the oloid, a timelessly beautiful geometric body, serves today more than ever as a source of inspiration and functional component in the visual arts and design, in technology and research, in architecture, philosophy, and music.
In 1929, the sculptor, inventor and researcher Paul Schatz (1898-1971) discovered the geometric form of the oloid. Schatz' lifework was characterized by this fundamentally new body, which emerged from movement, for which he sought and found new and pioneering applications for a number of decades.
