In this book, Monika Kirloskar-Steinbach studies how Bhimrao Ambedkar (1891-1956), W.E.B. Du Bois (1868-1963), Mohammed Iqbal (1877-1938), Pandita Ramabai (1858-1922) and Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) diagnose the epistemic oppression they perceive and experience, their analysis of the coloniality of being as its cause, and their proposals to counter it. Kirloskar-Steinbach explores how these voices seek to co-create a space in which they can experience what it means to be free from the conceptual domination of academic frameworks, relish that freedom with their collaborators and, in the equal participation that that space affords, develop open-ended concepts that help them to resist the coloniality of being.

The minor ones were in his search for his master, Tilopa and the major ones were inflicted by Tilopa. In the end, his realization became identical to his teacher.Naropa’s songs of realization are the Song of Naropa and the Summary of Mahamudra. It is both important and necessary to study and reflect upon such extraordinary teachings on the view of Mahamudra. When put into practice these instructions are incredibly effective.Teachings like Mahamudra, also known as the path of liberation, as explained by Naropa in this book, have the complete, true view. A beginner can embark on this training in a very gentle and relaxed way. It is not necessary to grapple with too many difficulties.Jamgön Kongtrül Lodrö Thaye was foretold by Buddha Shakyamuni in the King of Samadhi Sutra. When Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche taught this sutra, he mentioned that Gampopa was predicted but I did not say much about Jamgön Kongtrül. In the sutra the Buddha is recorded as saying, “In the future, when the time of degeneration has begun, there will be a great bodhisattva named Lodrö who will vastly benefit beings by means of the five types of knowledge.” In fact, Jamgön Kongtrül Lodrö Thaye established the body of the Buddha’s teachings, which he collected and composed, within five treasuries. In this way, he delayed the disappearance of the Buddhadharma. When he realized the view of Mahamudra, he spontaneously wrote down the song included here.

Corporations are legal bodies with duties and powers distinct from those of individual people. Kant discusses them in many places. He endorses universities and churches; he criticises feudal orders and some charitable foundations; he condemns early business corporations' overseas activities. Corporations bridge the central distinctions of his practical philosophy: ethics versus right, public versus private right. Corporations can extend freedom, structure moral activity, and aid progress towards more rightful conditions. Kant's thought also highlights a fundamental threat. In every corporation, some people exercise the corporation's legal powers, without the same liabilities as private individuals. This threatens Kant's principle of innate equality: no citizen should have greater legal rights than any other. ÓRIGENÉS (asi 185 – asi 253) byl raně křesťanským theologem a interpretem Písma působícím nejprve v Alexandrii, poté v palestinské Kaisareii. Exegetická práce byla stěžejní součástí jeho díla a komentář k Janovu evangeliu jedním z nejrozsáhlejších exegetických projektů, jemuž věnoval podstatnou část svého tvůrčího života. První knihy tohoto komentáře vznikly v Alexandrii před Órigenovým odchodem do Kaisareie (asi roku 232). První dvě knihy Komentáře k Janovu evangeliu obsahují Órigenovu předmluvu k celému spisu věnovanou zejména pojmu „evangelium“ a dále výklad veršů J 1,1–7a. Tato relativně krátká pasáž z prologu Janova evangelia přivádí alexandrijského exegetu k výkladu o Kristových jménech (tzv. epinoiích) obecně, a zvláště k pojednání o Kristových nejvyšších epinoiích „Počátek“, „Moudrost“, „Slovo“, „Život“ a „Světlo lidí“, úzce spojených s vykládaným biblickým textem. Uvedené epinoie jsou v Órigenově pojetí těmi pojmy, jež dávají nahlédnout, jak je Kristus, Boží Syn, o sobě jako Boží hypostaze vedle Boha Otce a jak je jakožto nejzazší cíl lidského výstupu k Bohu, pravý Život. V závěru druhé knihy Órigenés otevře téma Jana Křtitele, od Boha poslaného svědka o Světle a Ježíšova předchůdce.

Tertullianův rozsáhlý spis De anima („O duši“; napsán kolem roku 210 po Kr.) představuje první zachované pojednání o lidské duši sepsané z křesťanských pozic, a jako takové je ve svém žánru zakladatelským dílem raně křesťanského písemnictví. Pozoruhodný spis, který je rozkročen mezi literaturou, filosofií, teologií a lékařstvím, je nejen polemikou s pohanskými koncepcemi duše, mezi nimiž zaujímá přední místo Platón, tento „hokynář, který v dobré víře prodal všem heretikům svoje koření“, ale formuluje rovněž vlastní koncepci „tělesné duše“ (corporalitas animae), která je v posledku „odnoží“ (tradux) duše Adamovy a předává se při pohlavním styku z rodičů na jejich potomky (tzv. traducianismus). Toto adaptované stoické dědictví, jež je v raně křesťanském myšlení svou propracovaností bezprecedentní, se pro Tertulliana stává nejúčinnější zbraní proti „heretickým“, platonismem ovlivněným naukám o preexistenci a stěhování duší, jež podle něho podkopávají samy základy křesťanského náboženství.

Since the last decade of the twentieth century, there has been talk of a return of religion in Western societies - the very societies that were regarded by many people as undergoing an irreversible process of secularization. Paul Ricoeur's philosophical writings on religion are contemporaneous with this movement of secularization and return, while at the same time his work complicates the schema. In Ricoeur's view, religion is part of the universe of convictions in which subjects live concretely, convictions that deserve to be heard and placed under the lights of argumentation and discussion. Překvapivá, provokativní i čtivá – taková je kniha Trýzně narcismu od Isoldy Charimové, která představuje jeden z nejpozoruhodnějších filosofických, či spíše humanitně vědních příspěvků za několik posledních let. Autorka si bere za východisko Freudovu teorii narcismu, kterou nechápe jako vlastnost jednotlivce, ale spíše jako formu společnosti, přesněji jako ideologii. K tomu ostatně odkazuje podtitul knihy: O dobrovolném podřízení. Nemůžeme se nechovat narcisticky: úspěch stojí na sebeprezentaci, na inscenaci vlastní výjimečnosti. Takto pojatý narcismus je pro autorku cosi výsostně paradoxního: narcistické chování je nespolečenské chování, přesto na něm naše společnost stojí. Kniha byla vyznamenána prestižním oceněním Tractatus Preis.

Dielo je historicky prvým zachovaným celkom predstavujúcim Spinozovu teóriu Boha ako substancie, súvisiacu koncepciu jednoty tela a mysle a východiská Spinozovho prístupu ku skúmaniu afektov, ktoré neskôr precizoval vo svojom veľdiele Etika. Aj preto je Krátky traktát podľa niektorých názorov Spinozovou "proto-Etikou".
