Co je to rytmus? Jak rytmus zakoušíme a jak rytmicky žijeme? V jakém smyslu je skutečnost utvářená rytmicky? Jak lze rytmus definovat nejen jako princip organizace času, ale také prostoru? Mindazonáltal a könyv záróakkordja egy teljesen újszerű, kabbalista módszerrel végigvitt keresztény vallásfilozófiai fejtegetés. A teremtés hétszeres elemzésének hét szempontja a következő: az első három előadás a világ hármas (földi, égi, angyali) felosztásáról szól, a negyedik az ember mint mikrokozmosz felépítéséről és lehetőségeiről, az ötödik és hatodik az első négy összefüggéseit tárgyalja, míg a hetedik a teremtmények végső boldogságának mibenlétét boncolgatja, ahol az angyalokon kívül egyedül az ember számára adatik meg a kegyelem révén az Istenhez való visszatérés lehetősége.

The Paradox of Morality
The last work by “one of the most singular voices of twentieth-century French philosophy” (Critical Inquiry) on the complexities of love in public and private life Vladimir Jankélévitch stands alongside Emmanuel Levinas as one of the most admired French ethicists of the twentieth century, known for his work on everything from the possibility of forgiveness after the Holocaust to the philosophy of music. In his final work, The Paradox of Morality (1981), Jankélévitch turns his attention to the fundamental questions of the moral life: the struggle between egoism and self-sacrifice, the question of whether pure or infinite love exists, and moral agency in the pursuit of human rights. In dialogue with philosophers from Plato to Nietzsche, Jankélévitch proposes that the moral life comprises an acrobatic act in which we must balance the demands of love and our responsibility to the other against our natural attachment to the self. Morality is the activity of realizing and combining, in each individual action, the maximum amount of love possible with the minimum of being. This oscillation between self and other—and between being and love—is never fixed or stable. In the end, morality is not something that exists in the world of contemplation; instead, it is the substance of what must be done here and now: created anew in each new moment.

Feminism, Defeated
Feminism has been defeated. Once a politics, feminism is now a philosophy, an epistemology, a method. Once for women, it is now for everyone. Once in pursuit of liberation, it now seeks only inclusion. In Feminism, Defeated, Kate Phelan traces the depoliticization and ultimately, the defeat of feminism. She recovers the second-wave view of men and women as sex-classes, enemies, political kinds, a view more radical than the contemporary view of men and women as social constructs. She also describes how poststructuralism displaced this view and replaced it with another. In this view, the sex/gender binary constructs men and women, and excludes the gender nonconforming. As this view replaced the second-wave one, the injustice of men’s oppression of women was replaced by that of exclusion, and the goal of women’s liberation was replaced by that of inclusion. Thus did feminism become the trans-inclusionary movement as which we now know it, and Phelan shows that this shift was not the progression of feminism; it was the betrayal of it. In this highly original and persuasive study, she argues that the recent emergence of a new gender-critical feminism presents a moment of opportunity to reclaim feminism’s political project.

Kant on Marriage
This Element proposes a new understanding of Kant''s account of marriage by examining the context and background conversations that shaped its development and by discussing the conception of equality at its core. Marriage as Kant understands it relies on a certain form of equality between spouses. Yet this conception of equality does not precede marriage, and carries important limitations ? one of which being its inaccessibility to a significant proportion of the German population at the time. The protections and rights conferred by marriage were thus not accessible to all. Their shared preoccupation with this issue allows the author to put Kant''s thoughts in relation with those of eighteenth-century feminist writers Theodor von Hippel and Marianne Ehrmann. Despite these limitations, the author finds Kant''s conception of marriage is compatible with the achievement of certain egalitarian goals, suggesting that it may be able to improve women''s lives in a liberal state.

Od mladosti som pracoval ako historik filozofie, zaoberal som sa slovenskou i európskou filozofiou, najmä osvietenskou. Výsledky som uverejnil v mnohých štúdiách a vo viacerých knihách. Pri styku s niektorými filozofmi minulosti zostalo mi však čosi osobnejšie, čo som vtedy nenapísal. Časť z toho im adresujem teraz. Na ich oslovenie som si zvolil formu listu. Nie je vo filozofii nová. Listy písali už Platón, Epikuros, Seneca, Pascal a mnohí iní. Kým však títo autori svojich adresátov aj poúčali, ja som ďaleko od toho, aby som poúčal Platóna, Voltaira či Poppera. Mám však výhrady voči niektorým ich názorom, a tie im predkladám. V listoch možno byť osobnejší, dôvernejší, štýl môže byť voľnejší, možno povedať všeličo, čo sa do štúdie nehodí.
Využívam túto možnosť a píšem predovšetkým o problémoch, ktoré sa ma osobne, ba bytostne dotýkajú, ktoré ma sprevádzajú a pália už desaťročia a ktoré sa ani týmito Listami neriešia. Možno však nájdu u niektorých čitateľov odozvu. Nie sú totiž len moje osobné, ale sú to problémy storočí a tisícročí.
