Az 1805. december 2-án a morvaországi Austerlitz mellett lezajlott csatát hagyományosan Napóleon egyik legnagyobb győzelmeként tartják számon, amellyel hatalmas lépést tett a kontinentális Európa feletti uralom megszerzése felé. Československá legenda LT vz. 38
Československá legenda LT vz. 38, tank, známý pod německým označením PzKpfw 38(t), si vydobyl pověst jednoho z nejlepších lehkých obrněnců počátku druhé světové války. Ve službách Wehrmachtu sloužil jako spolehlivý nástroj bleskové války na bojištích Francie i východní fronty a stal se nedílnou součástí Rommelovy „divize duchů“. Přestože je ve světové historii vojenství spojován především se službou v armádě Třetí říše, jeho skutečné kořeny sahají do Československa. Příběh legendárního LT vz. 38 začal na rýsovacích prknech konstruktérů pražské ČKD a pokračoval složitým vyjednáváním s Ministerstvem národní obrany. Stroj se nakonec dostal do výroby – aby vzápětí padl do rukou okupantů, kteří jej nasadili v obrovském měřítku. LT vz. 38 byl československý tank, který dobyl Evropu – pod nepřátelskou vlajkou.

Výskum lokálnych politických elít predstavuje v súčasnosti jeden z aktuálnych trendov v stredoeurópskej historiografii. Kniha prináša rad nových informácií a dôležitých interpretácií k doteraz nedostatočne preskúmanej problematike mestskej samosprávy v období dualizmu (1867 – 1918). Na príklade mesta Prešporok (Bratislava) sa významným spôsobom prehlbuje poznanie o vytváraní a fungovaní mestského zastupiteľstva (municipiálneho výboru) po reforme verejnej správy v Uhorsku z roku 1870. V publikácii sa analyzuje nielen legislatívna úroveň spomínanej reformy, ale aj jej implementácia v meste. V práci sa okrem kvantitatívnych ukazovateľov štruktúry mestského zastupiteľstva sledujú aj politické kariéry, rodinné prepojenia a legitimačné stratégie konkrétnych osobností. Rozpolcená doba, rozptýlené životy za druhé světové války a studeného míru
Osobně pojatý pohled na dějiny Československa od 30. do 90. let minulého století založila historička a antropoložka Daniela Spenser na osudech vlastní rodiny. Autorka usiluje o objektivní vylíčení historických událostí, jež vystupují z osudů jejích prarodičů stižených tragédií holokaustu. Věnuje se především životnímu příběhu své matky překladatelky Ruth Tosekové a jejího manžela významného redaktora a novináře Vladimíra Toseka. Oba byli aktivními účastníky společenského dění v 50. v 60. letech a aktivně se zapojili do událostí Pražského jara. Po odchodu z Československa se pohybovali v blízkosti představitelů exilu, včetně Jiřího Pelikána.
V závěru se kniha zabývá i vztahem exulantů k české polistopadové společnosti. Autorka se nevyhýbá ani kontroverzním tématům, např. doložené spolupráci svých blízkých s StB, aniž by je však nějak soudila. Díky pečlivému studiu pramenů i schopnosti zachovat si od líčených událostí odstup se Daniele Spenser daří skloubit tzv. malé a velké dějiny 20. století.
