When the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, artists, punks, anarchists, squatters, visionaries, and oddballs discovered the no-man’s-land behind it—a practically lawless zone in the heart of the city. Unbridled creativity was unleashed in the free spaces among the crumbling façades of old buildings. A variety of clubs, bars, techno parties, galleries, uprisings, and exhibitions sprung up, among them the well-known institutions Tacheles and Schokoladen. These new spaces became a magnet for young people from around the world, who flocked to the burgeoning scene. These wild years may seem long past, but their effect is still palpable and has made Berlin into what it is today. The city’s well-established reputation as a creative hotspot is partially grounded in the myths of the riotous 1990s. In its more than 200 photographs, Berlin Wonderland brings this unique time of upheaval, resistance, and rearrangement back to life. Looking at the sleek shops and buildings of Berlin’s Mitte district today, it seems practically impossible that these photos were taken only 20 years ago. Yet that part of the city has indeed undergone radical change since then—on streets where ruins and piles of rubble once stood, tourists now stroll in droves. Twenty-five years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, it is time to tell the visual story of an extraordinary time in the Mitte district’s history that only few experienced. Předkládaná publikace se zaobírá reklamou a hlavně reklamním prvorepublikovým plakátem. Zahrnuje meziválečný reklamní plakát firmy Baťa, ateliéru Rotter, nakladatelství Melantrich, návrhy vývěsních štítů, ...Tato publikace soustřeďuje prvorepublikové reklamní plakáty, z kterých je cítit nostalgie starých časů. Tříděny jsou podle obsahu do tematických celků, jako je drogerie a parfumerie, potravinářství, léčiva, cestování, spoření, technika a zvláštní kapitolu tvoří reklama na alkohol. Následuje ukázka plakátů těžko zařaditelných. Plakáty firmy Baťa tvoří jednu malou skupinku, stejně jako vývěsní štíty pro živnostníky, dále účtenky a faktury. Drobnou zajímavostí jsou reklamy umístěné na zadní straně skládanky s pohádkou pro děti. Převážná část plakátů pokrývá období první poloviny dvacátého století, některé doprovází německý jazyk. Plakáty jsou reprodukovány v dochovaném stavu, bez retuší a zahlazení stopy po poškození (složení či natržení).Kolovrz, uvedený v názvu publikace, představoval mast, kvalitní druh vazelíny, která dokázala umlčet skřípání kol u všech vozíků, trakařů, koleček a žebřiňáků a odhlučnit i řetěz u bicyklu. Dobový plakátek zobrazoval ruku s nataženým ukazováčkem, na jehož konci dřepěl bobek maziva uloveného z plechové krabičky s nápisem: “Na vrzání kolovrz”. Kolovrz byl ojedinělý, protože běžnější prostředek se stejným účinkem se jmenoval kolomaz.

In Slovakia, there are many remarkable bridges which represented the peak engineering ability of their era. However, many of them were gradually forgotten even though some of them were unique even on European, or global level. One of the main tasks of the book Bridges in Slovakia is to show them to the general public and point out, that although Slovakia is a relatively small country it has many bridges which we can be proud of.
The book contains information about approximately 250 bridges in Slovakia, which were selected because of their aesthetic, technical, or historical value. On the opening pages there are some basic information about the fundamental statical behaviour of different kind of bridges and the basic construction methods. The second, significantly larger part of the book is then devoted to the selected bridges.
By every bridge you can always find its GPS coordinates as well as a short history of the bridge and its basic parameters.
The book has 271 pages with 494 color photographs of the current state of bridges, as well as 175 archival photographs, diagrams and drawings.
