Hudba: Podvratné dějiny
Dějiny možná píšou vítězové. Muziku však mají na svědomí rebelové.
Pro většinu lidí jsou dějiny hudby pouze matným pojmem ze školních učebnic, s nímž má jejich vlastní posluchačský zájem jen málo společného. Pestrému dvacátému století předcházejí portréty vážných skladatelů a napudrovaných paruk. Dál do minulosti už je jen doba chorálů, lidových písní, louten a temna. Archeologické nálezy a historické zkoumání však ukazují, že hudba člověka provází od počátku lidstva: písně byly důležitou součástí lovu i duchovního života, šumění lučních trav znělo jako koncert. Proč se tedy z dějin hudby staly nudné zástupy úspěšných mužů?
Hudební historik a kritik Ted Gioia ve své odvážné knize tvrdí, že to je dáno obecně revolučními možnostmi hudby. Společnost musela nejdříve rebely potlačit a až následně jejich inovace zpracovala do krotkého hudebního kánonu. Vyprávět dějiny hudby proto pro Gioiu znamená vyprávět příběhy odpadlíků a podivínů, kteří hledali nové způsoby, jak, kde a pro koho vyluzovat zvuky či jen poslouchat.

Do publikace přispěli kurátorka výstavy Sandra Baborovská, teoretička fotografie Mariana Serranová a historik umění Adam Mazur.
Výstavní projekt stejně jako kniha Mlčení, torzo, přítomnost navazuje na výstavu Předobrazy, prostor, abstrakce, která se před deseti lety uskutečnila v bývalých prostorách Galerie hlavního města Prahy ve druhém patře Staroměstské radnice. Tehdy Thýna inspiroval kubistický sochař Otto Gutfreund. Nyní, v případě projektu Mlčení, torzo, přítomnost, pak výrazná osobnost meziválečné avantgardy Hana Wichterlová(19031990).
Bohatě obrazově doprovozená publikace se rovněž věnuje výstavě Tvar, práce a dvě tlustá břicha, která se odehrála v galerii hunt kastner, kde se Thýn vyrovnával s dílem sochařky Aliny Szapocznikow.

Opravy historických staveb
V poslední době se při opravách starých staveb setkávám stále častěji s názory na řešení dílčích problémů, které jsou mylné, stavbě neprospívají a mnohdy ani neodpovídají fyzikálním zákonům. Mnoho lidí opravuje své staré domy (leckdy svépomocí), a to je pole pro vznik a šíření laických řešení. Lidé se spíše poradí se sousedem nebo na sociálních sítích než s odborníkem.
Není to problém jen současnosti, už v 1. století po Kristu o tom psal klasik stavitelství a architektury Vitruvius:„… nikdo se nepokouší provádět doma nějaké jiné umění, např. ševcovské, valchářské nebo něco z ostatních, jež jsou snadnější, leda stavitelství…“ Proto jsem se rozhodl napsat knížku, ve které bych chtěl využít dlouholeté zkušenosti s opravami a obnovou starých staveb a pokusil se upozornit na mylné názory, se kterými se setkáváme. Věřím, že vám tato kniha pomůže vyvarovat se omylů, kterých jsem se dopouštěl (a možná stále dopouštím) i já. Jan Vinař

Judy Chicago: In the Making
One of the founding forces behind the 1970s feminist art movement, Judy Chicago became widely known for The Dinner Party, a massive installation turning women's traditional household-bound role on its head by setting a feast for thirty-nine remarkable women - from Hildegarde of Bingen to Emily Dickinson - to shine a spotlight on women's contributions to history. Concluded in 1979, it was presented in San Francisco to popular success and proceeded to be shown internationally to an audience of over one million viewers through an unprecedented grassroots effort. Art critics, however, responded differently, annihilating it for its celebration of vaginal imagery and embrace of 'feminine' craft. Réti István: A Nagybányai művésztelep című kötetének jubileumi kiadását a művésztelep létrejöttének 125.évfordulójára 2021-ben a Magyar Művészeti Akadémia támogatta.
Réti István A NAGYBÁNYAI MŰVÉSZTELEP Réti István könyve, A nagybányai művésztelep, a 19–20. századi magyar művészet egyik legjelentősebb szellemi, szemléleti, stiláris mozgalmának a történetét tárgyalja s résztvevőinek alakját, munkásságát mutatja be, a korszak legfontosabb művészettörténeti forrásmunkái közé tartozik. Szerzőjét, aki maga is a nagybányai festőkolónia első, alapító nemzedékének tagja, az eseményeknek nem csak résztvevője, hanem egyik megindítója is volt, műveltsége, széles látóköre, a történelem és művészettörténet iránti fogékonysága, s nem utolsósorban írói vénája a mozgalom krónikásának, s mintegy teoretikusának szerepére predesztinálta.

Promlouvají k nám vířivé dynamické lineární shluky, v nichž se prorytými linkami odkrývají spodní vrstvy, a žádný z obrazů není prvoplánově a jednoznačně uchopitelný. Egon Schiele
The monograph on Egon Schiele edited by Rudolf Leopold in 1972 forms the basis for Egon Schiele's world fame. Rudolf Leopold recognised back in the 1950s Schiele's outstanding significance for art.
