Piata publikácia Aurela Hrabušického a Filipa Vanča z edície Osobnosti slovenskej fotografie predstavujte Antona Šmotláka (1920 - 1979). Ako profesionál sa špecializoval na divadelnú fotografiu, ale od samého začiatku sa venoval aj živej fotografii. Patril k prvým slovenským fotografom, ktorí sa v rámci živej či priamej fotografie postarali o uvoľnenie z dogiem socialistického realizmu. Spontánne a bez predsudkov zaznamenával okamihy z bežného života v Bratislave, ale aj inde na Slovensku. Do fotografie vniesol hybný moment, akceleráciu diania, razanciu v záberoch, akýsi fotografický „drajv". V druhej polovici 50. a začiatkom 60. rokov obsiahol taký široký register tém a spracoval ich s takým porozumením ako máloktorý iný slovenský fotograf. Možno sa mu to podarilo aj preto, lebo bol „dobrotivým paparazzom" - ako ho nazval Július Satinský, keď komentoval jeho predčasnú smrť.

Bohatě obrazově vypravená kniha mapuje největší sbírku antických památek v Čechách a na Moravě. Přestože Kouzelná flétna v tomto propojení rituálu s operou dosahuje naprostého úspěchu, nemělo dílo v tomto ohledu žádné předchůdce a nenašlo ani následníky.
