Výstava si zvolila jako analogon k „hernímu principu současného diskursu“ oblast farmakologie, konkrétně té spjaté s oddálením početí. Pokračování 2018: Antikoncepci v názvu projektu lze ale také vnímat jako ironickou metaforu označující způsob práce, který jde oproti racionálnímu kalkulu spíše cestou intuice a vciťování. Vždyť co je koncepční, to souvisí v první řadě s myšlením, s rozvahou, kalkulem, s nějakým ideovým rozvrhem, jenž sleduje a naplňuje konkrétní cíl. This exhibition includes his striking key black-and-white and colour photographic series, as well as never-before-seen material from his personal archive.
This exhibition, exclusive to Sydney, will be the largest retrospective of Goldblatt's work in the region and marks the photographer's final project before his death.

Nick Brandt: This Empty World
This Empty World, Nick Brandt's new monograph, features a series of dramatically staged photographs that bring together and reveal the animals and people of East Africa as the victims of environmental degradation in an emotionally powerful, cinematic way. Moving into colour photography for the first time, the work is both a technical tour-de-force and a massively ambitious project in which several sets are constructed on a scale typically only seen in film production. Each panoramic image is a combination of two moments in time, almost all of them captured weeks apart from the exact same camera position.
Brandt first builds and lights a partial set, then waits for the animals that inhabit the region to enter the frame. Once captured on camera, the full set is built with the camera remaining fixed in place. The sets include bridge and highway construction sites, a petrol station, a bus station and even a dead forest.
Completing the scene with a huge cast drawn from local communities, Brandt then photographs the second sequence. The final large scale prints are a composite of the two intricately plotted elements. Viewed as a whole, the images vividly illustrate a world in which, overwhelmed by runaway human development, there is no longer space for animals to survive, and beg the question: what kind of world will we live in when stripped of its natural wonders.
Photographed on unprotected, inhabited Maasai community land, after the sets were removed and their elements recycled, no evidence of the images now remains in the landscape.
The Birth of Loud
A riveting saga in the history of rock `n' roll: the decades-long rivalry between the two men who innovated the electric guitar's amplified sound-Leo Fender and Les Paul-and their intense competition to convince rock stars like the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton to play the instruments they built. In the years after World War II, music was evolving from big-band jazz into the primordial elements of rock 'n' roll-and these louder styles demanded revolutionary instruments. When Leo Fender's tiny firm marketed the first solid-body electric guitar, the Esquire, musicians immediately saw its appeal.
Not to be out-maneuvered, Gibson, the largest guitar manufacturer, raced to build a competitive product. The company designed an "axe" that would make Fender's Esquire look cheap and convinced Les Paul-whose endorsement Leo Fender had sought-to put his name on it. Thus was born the guitar world's most heated rivalry: Gibson versus Fender, Les versus Leo.
While Fender was a quiet, half-blind, self-taught radio repairman from rural Orange County, Paul was a brilliant but egomaniacal pop star and guitarist who spent years toying with new musical technologies. Their contest turned into an arms race as the most inventive musicians of the 1950s and 1960s-including bluesman Muddy Waters, rocker Buddy Holly, the Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Eric Clapton-adopted one maker's guitar or another. By the time Jimi Hendrix played "The Star-Spangled Banner" at Woodstock in 1969 on his Fender Stratocaster, it was clear that electric instruments-Fender or Gibson-had launched music into a radical new age, empowering artists with a vibrancy and volume never before attainable.

Liptov ľudové umenie Folk Art
To čo sa v súčasnosti nazýva ľudovým umením, bolo v minulosti súčasťou každodenného života človeka. Ľudový výrobca pracoval s praktickým cieľom a jeho výrobky charakterizoval dokonalý súlad materiálu a techniky, funkcie a výzdoby. Každá vec ktorú zhotovil, musela byť taká, aby slúžila a aj ukázala, spájala sa v nej krása materiálu, výzdoby a účelnosti. Ľudia v Liptove spracovávali prírodné materiály a zhotovovali predmety, ktoré im slúžili v každodennom živote. Najpoužívanejšie boli predmety z dreva potrebné v domácnosti a gazdovstve, ale aj nábytok. Z prútia, korienkov a slamy sa plietli koše a košíky, hrnčiari robili a vypaľovali hlinené krčahy, misy, hrnce, pekáče a aj kachlice. Ovčiari si vyrezávali salašnícky riad, formy na oštiepky a črpáky na žinčicu. Ich oblečenie charakterizovala tzv. valaská paráda – bohato zdobené opasky, kapsy, klobúky, pracky a spony. Z ovčej vlny ľudia robili súkno, ktoré im slúžilo na odievanie, šili si z neho zimnú obuv a tiež používali ako prikrývky. Z koží oviec zruční remeselníci šili veľké mužské a ženské kožuchy, ale aj zdobené vesty bez rukávov. Ženy spracovávali ľanové a konopné vlákna, tkali z nich plátno, ktoré ozdobovali vytkávanými alebo vyšívanými vzormi. Modrotlačiari farbili biele plátno a potláčali ho krásnymi farebnými vzormi. Je potešiteľné, že takmer všetky výrobné a remeselné techniky a postupy sa v regióne uchovali až do súčasnosti ako živá tradícia.

Koloman Sokol
Koncom šesťdesiatych rokov sa v tvorbe Kolomana Sokola, významnej osobnosti slovenského výtvarného umenia, ktorá svojím umeleckým a humanistickým posolstvom výrazne prekročila hranice Slovenska, začína posledná tvorivá etapa. Zmena jeho myslenia aj výtvarného rukopisu je zásadná. Už netúži po formálnej dokonalosti, akoby ho už tvaroslovie, kompozícia či priestor prestali zaujímať. Dôležitejšia je atmosféra, zobrazovanie dôležitých momentov a duševného stavu. Kolekcia osemnástich diel zo zbierky Galérie Nedbalka, ktoré vznikali od roku 1968 do roku 1993, je kvalitatívne vyrovnaná a je výberom toho najlepšieho, čo umelec v tomto období vytvoril.

Alfons Mucha
Alfons Mucha (1860-1939) sa preslávil ako majster secesie - svojimi zvodnými kompozíciami kvetín, ornamentov a žien v pastelových farbách charakterizoval vzhľad a štýl prelomu 19. a 20. storočia, takzvanej Belle Époque. Široká paleta jeho prác obsahuje plagáty, ilustrácie, pohľadnice, propagačné materiály, ale aj návrhy kostýmov, divadelných rekvizít a interiérov. K jeho najznámejších dielam patria divadelné plagáty pre slávnu herečku Sarah Bernhardtovú a monumentálny cyklus Slovanská epopeja. Pri podrobnom skúmaní jeho života a diela sa však ukazujú aj ďalšie stránky umelcovej zložitej osobnosti, predovšetkým ako spoločensky zameraného mysliteľa. Mucha bola vlastenec, stúpenec panslavizmu, slobodomurársky reformátor a pacifista. Skôr ako experimentovať s novými smermi a štýlmi mu bolo umenie nástrojom, ako širšiemu publiku komunikovať svoje politické a filozofické názory.
