Štěpán Pácl, jeden z nejpozoruhodnějších českých režisérů mladší generace, se s čtenáři dělí o zkušenosti z vlastní práce. Svým způsobem je tedy tato kniha ojedinělá, neboť nás nechává nahlédnout „do zákulisí“ divadelní praxe. V jednotlivých kapitolách, věnovaných vybraným inscenacím v různých českých divadlech od Ostravy až po pražské Národní divadlo, zkoumá z různých úhlů pohledu „problémy“, před kterými stál společně s dalšími spoluinscenátory – dramaturgy, scénografy a především herci a herečkami. Zajímavě popisuje také vlastní divácké zážitky z inscenací zahraničních divadel, která dlouhou dobu pravidelně sleduje. Stephen Shore Survivors in Ukraine
A powerful and haunting visual record, Stephen Shore's portraits highlight the resilience and hope of Ukraine's Holocaust survivors. Stephen Shore, one of the most influential photographers living today, traveled to the Ukraine in 2012 and again in 2013, just prior to the current political upheaval, to visit 35 survivors, most of whom are women. In the photographs of the survivors and their homes, Shore visually explores their collective experience as seen through quotidian details, and leaves open the question as to how the history of the Holocaust informs the viewer's reception of the portraits. Rivera
It was as a revolutionary and troublemaker that Picasso, Dali and Andre Breton described the husband of Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, but he was also responsible for creating a public art that was both highly advanced and profoundly accessible. From 1910 Rivera lived in Europe where he absorbed the influence of Cubism. After the Mexican revolution, however, he returned to his homeland and harnessed the lessons of the European avant-garde to the needs of the Mexican people. His own murals, and those of the Mexican Muralists who followed his example, presented a utopian vision of a post-revolutionary Mexico. Rivera's historical paintings expressed his interpretation of the revolution and its ideals, in a style that showed him returning to the pre-Columbian roots of Mexican culture, re-inventing a colourfully realistic visual idiom that could appeal directly to a largely illiterate people. This is the first study which, independently of the exhibition circuit, coherently presents the work of this extraordinary artist.
Caravaggio
