Bauhaus
Founded in Weimar in 1919, the Bauhaus school developed a revolutionary approach that fused fine art with craftsmanship and engineering in everything from architecture to furniture, typography, and even theater. Originally headed by Walter Gropius, the Bauhaus counted among its members artists and architects such as Paul Klee, Lyonel Feininger, Wassily Kandinsky, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, and Marcel Breuer. In 1930, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe took over as the leader, but soon after, in 1933, the Nazi government shut down the school. Bosch
If Hieronymus Bosch (1450-1516) remains an enigma today, it is little wonder. Even his contemporaries found the Netherlandish painter's work difficult to Decipher - and it still presents riddles to contemporary art historians. Part of the problem in decoding his shocking and richly allegorical paintings is that virtually nothing is known of the artist himself, apart from his birthplace. There is no record of his life or training, no personal letters, diaries or notebooks, and no contemporary insights into his personality or thoughts on the meaning of his art. Even his date of birth can only be guessed at, and that based on a drawing assumed to be a self-portrait, made shortly before his death in 1516, which supposedly shows the artist in his late sixties. Bosch remains as mysterious as the worlds he painted. Although rooted in the Old Netherlandish tradition, Bosch developed a highly subjective, richly suggestive formal language. With a mixture of religious humility and satanic wit, he illustrated both the joys of heaven and the cruelly imaginative tortures of hell. Vlček o Malichovi
Publikace s podtitulem Vzpomínky, dokumenty a interpretace 1969–2014 vychází u příležitosti 90. narozenin Karla Malicha. Jde o esej, shrnujíci rozhovory mezi historikem umění Tomášem Vlčkem a současným významným umělcem Karlem Malichem během jejich dlouholetého přátelství. Autor rekapituluje, co pro něj přátelství s Karlem Malichem znamená a co jej umožňovalo. Zmiňuje některé motivy Malichova tvůrčího myšlení, které by jinak mohly být opomenuty. Obrazový doprovod knihy tvoří jednak kresby Karla Malicha, jednak fotografie Tomáše Vlčka, který zachytil umělcova díla v době jejich dokončení. Vzhledem k tomu, že některá z těchto děl již neexistují, jde o unikátní dokumentární snímky.
Ján Mančuška
Monografická publikace vznikla jako knižní záznam inventury prací, reprodukcí, textů, projektů konceptuálního umělce Jána Mančušky (1972–2011), s jejichž mapováním se započalo v roce 2012. Projekt První inventury má i svůj termín ukončení, kterým se stala výstava organizovaná Galerií hlavního města Prahy v roce 2015.
Obsah publikace je řazen chronologicky a dále je použito členění, jež přebírá Mančuškovo třídění, které on sám použil jak pro svůj digitální archív (díla, skici, texty, reprodukce), tak i pro materiální složky díla (v ateliéru, galerijních skladech).
První inventura je rozdělena do pěti oddílů: Práce, Texty, Rozhovory, Recenze a Teoretické texty.
Složka Práce obsahuje výběr Mančuškových vizuálních, performativních, filmových a dalších prací. Součástí oddílu jsou také Explikace – kratší textové útvary, odrážející autorovu snahu o nalezení přesných průsečíků mezi jeho literárně-teoretickým přístupem. Texty jsou výběrem Mančuškou dokončených textů, esejisticky formulovaných názorů, východisek a referencí, o něž se bezprostředně opíral a jež mu v některých případech přímo posloužily jako materiál díla. Rozhovory, jichž je v knize přetištěno osm, zastávají v Mančuškově koncepci místo veřejné tribuny. Mozaiku dobových formulací doplňuje také výběr několika Recenzí výstav, které se ve zpětném pohledu mohou jevit jako místo setkávání s odlehlou interpretací, jež autora někdy motivovalo k explicitní formulaci vlastních východisek. Výběr Teoretických textů byl veden zájmem revokovat rozdílné diskursy, působení i doby, v nichž vznikaly.
