Dějiny evropské architektury III.
S odstupem jednoho roku vychází druhý ze čtyř připravovaných svazků monumentálního díla Václava Mencla, Dějiny evropské architektury. Jde o jeho poslední, dosud nevydanou knihu, v níž předkládá smysluplný vývoj architektury od jejích počátků až do současnosti, zasazený do historických, kulturních i filosofických souvislostí. V druhém dílu nazvaném Umění antického světa Mencl pojednává o řeckém archaickém i klasickém umění a umění helénistických synkresí v různých částech antického světa: v Malé Asii, na Apeninském poloostrově, ve východních provinciích (Malé Asii a Sýrii) a v perské Mezopotámii. Lucas Cranach A-Z
Lucas Cranach the Elder created around 500 works during his lifetime. With his portraits of Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchton and as court painter to Frederick the Wise, he became one of the most sought-after painters of the Reformation. At the same time, Cranach was the first to translate the Italian Renaissance tradition of the life-size nude into art north of the Alps; his lascivious, barely veiled depiction of Venus, the goddess of love, bears witness to this. On the occasion of the large Cranach exhibition at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, the Austrian writer Teresa Praauer explores the work of this busy prince of painters from A to Z. She focuses not only on Cranach's art, but also on the society that surrounded him, the subjects he painted, and the events that shaped his development.

Josef Mysliveček - Život a dílo
Josef Mysliveček (1737–1781), syn mlynáře, se stal jedním z nejvyhledávanějších skladatelů vážné opery druhé poloviny 18. století. Dosáhl úspěchu v Itálii a ovlivnil mladého W. A. Mozarta, s nímž se několik let přátelil. Kniha amerického muzikologa Daniela E. Freemana je první moderní vědeckou monografií o Myslivečkovi, která seznamuje čtenáře s fakty o skladatelově životě a podrobně se zabývá rozborem jeho hudby. Součástí knihy je poznámkový aparát včetně katalogů Myslivečkových děl a jejich nahrávek.
Umění a emancipace
Kniha Umění a emancipace je v českém prostředí prvním uceleným pokusem vyrovnat se s odkazem významného polského intelektuála, jehož myšlenky zůstávají podnětné nejen na poli dějin moderního a současného umění. Piotr Piotrowski (1952—2015) se stal celosvětově uznávaným teoretikem díky své koncepci horizontálních – tedy nehierarchicky pojatých – dějin umění, inspirovaných marxistickou a feministickou tradicí. Předkládaný výbor obsahuje texty z let 1998 až 2013; jde jak o samostatně publikované studie, tak o kapitoly z několika Piotrowského knih. Autor v nich tematizuje mocenské, zejména geopolitické vztahy, v nichž umění vzniká a v nichž se píší i jeho dějiny. Odmítá nekritické přejímání západní perspektivy, ať již ve vztahu k bývalému sovětskému bloku, nebo dalším světovým periferiím a marginalizovaným kulturám. V té souvislosti se věnuje také otázkám postkoloniálních studií a zpochybňuje jejich aplikaci na situaci postkomunistických zemí. Dalším tématem knihy je idea kritického muzea, kterou Piotrowski důsledně zastával i ve svém veřejném působení, kde narážela na požadavky konzervativní politiky. Výbor je doplněn dvěma rozhovory a úvodem od Agaty Jakubowske a Magdaleny Radomske, které dnes v díle svého učitele pokračují.
