Výstava spolu s publikací zkoumá vývoj angažovaného a protestního umění v českých zemích s důrazem na období od globální finanční krize roku 2008. Domácí vývoj klade do širšího kontextu mezinárodních hnutí, jako jsou Occupy Wall Street, Black Lives Matter, Me Too, Fridays for Future, Extinction Rebellion a další. Vedle českých kolektivních iniciativ se projekt zaměřuje i na zahraniční umělecké skupiny, jejichž aktivity ovlivnily politické události a staly se inspirací pro domácí umělce. Pozornost je věnována i umění ve veřejném prostoru, sociálním intervencím a participativním strategiím, které podporují občanské iniciativy a posilují společenskou odolnost. Projekt zkoumá vztahy mezi jednotlivcem a globální i lokální komunitou, analyzuje solidaritu, odpovědnost a umělecké prostředky jako formu aktivního angažmá. Skupina reflektuje propojení umění a sociální spravedlnosti, lidských práv a ekologických otázek – upozorňuje na neoddělitelný charakter těchto témat v době antropocénu. Publikace pracuje s dokumentačními i uměleckými formami a sleduje pojem „performativní demokracie“, jak ho popisuje teoretik Peter Weibel. Zároveň se celý projekt ptá na roli protestního umění v politickém rámci: kde leží hranice jeho společenské přijatelnosti, odmítání a případného postihu?

In addition to Czech collective initiatives, the project also focuses on international art groups whose activities have influenced political events and inspired domestic artists. Attention is also paid to art in public spaces, social interventions and participatory strategies that support civic initiatives and strengthen social resilience. The project explores the relationships between individuals and both global and local communities, analysing solidarity, responsibility and artistic means as forms of active engagement. The group reflects on the interconnectedness of art, social justice, human rights and environmental issues, highlighting the inseparable nature of these topics in the Anthropocene era. The publication utilises documentary and artistic forms and explores the concept of ""performative democracy,"" as described by theorist Peter Weibel. At the same time, the entire project raises questions about the role of protest art in the political sphere: what are the boundaries of its social acceptability, rejection and possible punishment?

With more than four hundred illustrations spanning three decades, Event Horizon is the most extensive monograph on Roman Ondak’s work to date, published on the occasion of his solo exhibition Infinitum at Fundació T?pies in Barcelona in 2023.
Slovak artist Roman Ondak (b. 1966, Žilina) works in installation, photography, video, drawing and performance art, often involving people he has some relationship with. Ondak spent his childhood and adolescence in Czechoslovakia, then relatively isolated by its autocratic regime, and learned to understand society as an attempt to order existence through divisions and classifications of inclusion and exclusion. The artist addresses the failure of this structure in his work, while deploying the potential of other orders, other patterns of behavior and, ultimately, alternative social and political possibilities. His work often gives the impression that reality has been slightly readjusted, which in part is a tactical response to the propagandistic alterations of image and word that were the norm during the artist’s formative years.

Estetika filmu
Estetika filmu je reprezentatívna prehľadová publikácia, ktorá originálnym spôsobom predstavuje a sumarizuje viac ako storočie kritického, nielen európskeho myslenia o vybraných filmoch, kinematografiách, svetových filmových kultúrach. Jej autormi sú štyria najvýznamnejší súčasní francúzski filmoví teoretici, estetici, filozofi – Jacques Aumont, Alain Bergala, Michel Marie a Marc Vernet. Napriek vlastnej akademickej profilácii nazývajú knihu učebnicou, avšak primárne im nešlo o tradičnú enumeráciu mien, definícií, pojmov či prístupov. V šiestich kapitolách dali prednosť skôr fokusu na pomenovanie toho najpodstatnejšieho, na prepojenia ideí, na jasnosť a stručnosť explikácie.
Slovenský preklad štvrtého francúzskeho vydania Estetiky filmu, ktorá prvýkrát vyšla v roku 1983 a ktorú autori pravidelne aktualizujú (v tomto vydaní je už aj kapitola o rozmachu digitálnej éry), je prvou publikáciou takéhoto zamerania a rozsahu u nás (po Aristarcovi, Plazewskom, alebo aj nedávno v Čechách vydanom Umení filmu od Kristin Thompsonovej a Davida Bordwella). Jej hlavným cieľom je sprostredkovať dnešnému mladému čitateľovi silu tradície i súčasnú šírku úvah o budúcnosti audiovízie.

The first part of this book outlines and summarizes existing research on the topic of the colonization of the night and traces its important manifestations from antiquity to the present day. The second part is more specifically oriented towards the issue of illuminating night areas with space mirrors. Nikola Ivanov is an intermedia artist who works primarily with text, photography, and video.
