Suchý a Šlitr. Semafor 1959—1969
Prožijme znovu zázrak jménem Semafor. S porozuměním. Fenomén divadla Semafor přišel s počátkem šedesátých let jako zjevení, které ztělesnilo touhu československé společnosti po svobodě a uvolnění. Písničky dvojice Jiří Suchý & Jiří Šlitr si stejně jako odvázaný duch divadla záhy získaly tak velkou popularitu, že opatrná dobová média rezignovala a Semafor přijala. Divadlo nabízelo mnohé: nové hvězdy Waldemara Matušku, Evu Pilarovou či Hanu Hegerovou, ale také svébytné neherectví Suchého a Šlitra. Jejich písně se staly vpravdě všelidovým majetkem a „šlitrovky“ pevně srostly s každodenním životem napříč československou společností. Pavel Klusák se rozhodl prožít se Semaforem celá šedesátá léta. S ikonickými hrami Jonáš a tingltangl, Dobře placená procházka nebo Ďábel z Vinohrad se spouští do nitra příběhů éry Suchého a Šlitra, ale také se od nich rozhlíží ven k dobovým kulturním kontextům. Vždyť se semaforskými tvůrci spolupracoval snad každý, kdo tehdy v Československu utvářel novou kulturu.

Městské prostředí bylo od středověku prostorem inovací. Od 13. století byla města v české a moravské sociokulturní krajině součástí mohutného transformačního procesu, který zásadním způsobem proměnil celou společnost. Dopady této komplexní proměny pociťujeme dodnes, i když v mnoha ohledech byly překryty procesy moderní industrializace a pozdější deindustrializace, politické liberalizace, zestátnění v socialistické éře i polistopadové radikálně tržní transformace. Tyto změny se sice povětšinou dotýkaly celé společnosti, avšak právě v městském prostředí, jež se mezitím stalo bydlištěm většiny obyvatelstva, byly v dějinném období od středověku po současnost nejmarkantnější.
Každá transformace ale pro městskou společnost vždy představovala jisté ohrožení, které mohlo vyústit v úspěšnou racionální reakci, nebo také úpadek či zánik. Moderní města čelí v dnešní době nejrůznějším výzvám: politickým, hospodářským, sociálním a ekologickým. Cílem knihy Město jako laboratoř změny je ukázat, že spojením pohledů nejrůznějších odborných disciplín (archeologie, historie, sociologie, politologie či klimatologie) můžeme nahlédnout historické kořeny současných problémů, odpovědně přistupovat k budoucnosti.
