Olafur Eliasson

Francesc Rife - Architecture, Interiors and Commercial Spaces
The third illustrated monograph from Loft Publications celebrating the very latest work of the Barcelona-based interior, commercial and industrial designer whose award-winning work is based on the adventurous use of space and its geometric proportions. Rife's career as an interior and industrial designer begins during the period of his academic training through various collaborations with architecture and design studios. In 1994 he founded his own studio in Barcelona and currently leads a team of professionals trained in various fields of design. His international projects range from interior to industrial design in the commercial and private sectors. The studio also has considerable experience in graphic design photography and art direction. Its design philosophy is based on spatial and geometric proportion. Throughout his career Rife has received many prizes in the field of design, including Contract World Awards, ICFF Editors Awards, Ascer Prizes, and FAD Awards. He has also been nominated for the National Design Awards and the Delta Awards for Industrial Design. His work has been widely reported in the press and in specialized publications and books, nationally and internationally. Currently he combines teaching with an active role in workshops, meetings, and lectures.

Prototyping for Architects
Prototyping is an essential part of the designer's repertoire. Designers prototype their projects to test them, structurally, aesthetically, technically. Whether the prototype works or not is not the point: prototyping is the revelatory process through which the designer gains insight. There are three reasons why contemporary prototyping techniques are transforming the way architects design and build: at a miniature scale, prototyping aids the architect in the presentation to clients of complex spatial ideas; prototyping empowers the architect-designer to test and prove a building's feasibility, leading to more open-minded construction solutions; and whether additive (3D printing) or subtractive (robotic milling), prototyping can lead to unexpected and exciting new possibilities within design as a whole, across design disciplines, thus blurring the boundaries between them in highly creative ways. The book has four sections: an introduction that charts the rise of prototyping in design history, more specifically in architecture; an overview of techniques; a survey section featuring 30 projects, each presented through texts drawn from first-hand interviews, on-site photographs and drawings; and a reference section, which includes a glossary of technical terms.

A könyvhöz az egész Kárpát-medencéből gyűjtöttük az anyagot, gyakran átlépve a jelenlegi országhatárainkat, hogy egy-egy néprajzi tájegységet a lehető legteljesebben mutassunk be. A sok évszázados gyökerű népművészet ugyanis nem volt tekintettel a kényszerű történelmi változásokra: nem követte a politikai-földrajzi határokat. Hat ország több száz településén jártunk. Évekig voltunk úton, bekopogtunk házakhoz, bejártuk a skanzeneket, bekéredzkedtünk udvarokba, megpihentünk csűrökben, önfeledten doboltuk a ritmust a táncházakban és szégyenlősen táncra perdültünk magunk is, ha éppen nem figyelt senki ránk egy-egy esti mulatságon. Nemcsak a tárgyi emlékek hihetetlenül gazdag világával ismerkedtünk: néztük az arcokat, a mozdulatokat, lejegyeztük a jellemző ételek receptjeit. Közben egyre telhetetlenebbek lettünk. Hiába hordtuk haza a képeket szőttesekről, faragásokról, kerámiákról, ahogy haladtunk előre az időben újra meg újra azt gondoltuk: nincs elég megörökített csipke, mézeskalács vagy kályhacsempe a birtokunkban. Anna Galková a Anton Galko, akademickí maliari, stretli sa počas svojich štúdií na Vysokej škole výtvarných umení v Bratislave ( 1949 – 1951 ) a v Prahe na Vysokej škole výtvarných umení,kde študovali pod vedením profesora V.Sychra ( 1951-1954/1955). Žijú v Bratislave od roku 1955, kedy sa stali manželským párom. Ich celoživotné dielo je zamerané na komornú maľbu – portréty, figurálne kompozície, krajinárske motívy i zátišia. Ich rané dielo sa dotýka kresieb, grafického dizajnu a monumentálnych realizácií.
Staré pověsti české
Ve spolupráci s Plzní - Evropským městem kultury 2015 Národní filmový archiv digitálně restauroval jedno z klíčových děl plzeňského rodáka, velikána loutkové animace, Jiřího Trnky - film Staré pověsti české (1953).
Práce na restaurování provázel obsáhlý výzkum historických okolností vzniku filmu, z nějž vzešla také publikace, věnovaná různým aspektům snímku. V šesti původních studiích se věnujeme podrobné analýze produkce filmu a jeho roli v tzv. jiráskovské akci, zhodnocujeme pozici Jiřího Trnky jako svébytného tvůrce ve strukturách znárodněné kinematografie, zabýváme se stylem a vyprávěním filmu, specifiky Trnkových loutek a jeho spoluprací s hudebním skladatelem Václavem Trojanem. Krom rozhovorů je kniha doplněna též edicí archivních materiálů a disponuje bohatým obrazovým doprovodem.
