První kniha Boba Dylana od jeho memoárů nazvaných Kroniky I a vydaných v roce 2004 a zároveň i jeho první kniha od získání Nobelovy ceny za literaturu v roce 2016. V šestašedesáti koncentrovaných textech píše Dylan o skladbách jiných umělců, Little Richardem či Rayem Charlesem počínaje, Ninou Simone či The Clash konče, přičemž se od triviálních konstatování a dylanovsky poťouchlých žertíků odráží k zásadním postřehům o povaze populární hudby. Analyzuje to, čemu říká past jednoduchých rýmů, rozebírá, jak přidání jediné slabiky může píseň oslabit, a dokonce vysvětluje, jak bluegrass souvisí s heavy metalem. During the 1980s, Haring achieved international recognition and participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions. After being diagnosed with HIV in 1988, he focused his activism on the AIDS crisis. Less than two years later, Haring died of an AIDS-related illness.

Volmanova vila je fenomenálním příkladem české meziválečné architektury i dokladem společenské ambice první československé republiky podepřené její ekonomickou silou. Kniha „Volmanova vila – klenot české meziválečné architektury“ je stejně tak výpravnou monografií představující její architekturu, jako sondou do české moderní historie. Svědectvím o proměnách naší společnosti po roce 1948 i dokladem více jak patnáctiletého úsilí spojeného s obnovou a rekonstrukcí vily.
Kromě podrobného popisu stavby jsou zde představeny dodnes neuveřejněné dobové plány a fotografie doprovázené mnohovrstevnatými historickými komentáři a vysvětlením technik použitých při rekonstrukci objektu. Část textů je věnována autorům vily, době jejího vzniku i dílu významného českého podnikatele Josefa Volmana, zakladatele závodu, který dal vzniknout legendární české značce obráběcích strojů i současné tváři města Čelákovice, a také osudům jeho rodiny, které byly stejně pohnuté jako osud samotného domu. To vše se prolíná s úvahami historiků a architektů o kompozici domu, jeho estetice, atmosféře, expresi i řádu, které jsou poselstvím pro současnou dobu. .

Petr Veselý
Petr Veselý (1953) je výraznou osobností české malby posledních pěti desetiletí. Na scénu vstupoval v rozporném období vrcholné normalizace, a patří tak do okruhu umělců, kteří se na přelomu 70. a 80. let začali vymezovat vůči dosavadní praxi polooficiálního či přímo neoficiálního umění. Silné lokální i spirituální ukotvení vedlo Veselého k tomu, že svou práci vždy vědomě poměřoval tradicí, ať již tou, kterou zakládaly předcházející generace, nebo ještě podstatně starší, tradicí středověkého závěsného obrazu, francouzského realismu či kubištovského kubismu. Podstatnou roli sehrálo jeho intenzivní pobývání mimo centrum – v domovském Brně. S Vladimírem Kokoliou, Petrem Kvíčalou a Janem Steklíkem zde společně založili neformální umělecký spolek Tovaryšstvo malířské. Vedle postupujícího malířského abstrahování se ve Veselého tvorbě postupně ustavil podobně silný proud redukované, grafické či textové konceptuální skici. Jiný významný prvek představuje ustavení obrazu jakožto objektu ve třetím rozměru. Z pevného sepětí všech zmíněných poloh vzešlo pro Veselého typické uvažování v „otevřených cyklech“ jdoucích napříč časem i médii, odehrávajících se však zásadně na půdoryse obrazu. Tento souběžný postup „vzhledem ke“ světu, jeho hmotě, který soustavně rozvíjí rovněž Veselého básnická poloha, tvoří bezpečný rámec jeho uvažování a opírá se o něj také jeho kritická praxe zahrnující výstavní projekty, sborníkové či časopisecké texty, rozhlasové scénáře a pedagogickou činnost, jíž se Petr Veselý soustavně věnuje už od počátku 80. let.
Monografie Petra Veselého vychází k životnímu jubileu umělce. Výběr téměř dvou stovek jeho prací, tvořící obrazovou část publikace, je kontextualizován původními esejemi historičky umění Barbory Kundračíkové, umělce Václava Krůčka a filozofa Miroslava Petříčka. Doplněn je několika dalšími relevantními dříve publikovanými odbornými texty (Miroslava Hlaváčková, Petr Nedoma, Marek Pokorný, Alena Pomajzlová, Jiří Valoch ad.). Výběrový soupis díla Petra Veselého je koncipován tematicky a opatřen autorskými poznámkami osvětlujícími genezi a souvislosti jeho tvorby.
Za hranice fotografie. Beyond photography
Eva Heyd je profesionální fotografka, novinářka, spisovatelska a kurátorka. Především je však výtvarnice, která pracuje a experimentuje s fotografickým obrazem. Tato kniha představuje reminiscenci její více než čtyřicetileté tvorby, jež zahrnuje klasické fotografie, fotomontáže, koláže i trojrozměrné objekty.
Výtvarné aktivity autorky byly zásadně ovlivněny její emigrací do USA v polovině osmdesátých let. Zatímco její raná česká díla nepřesahují rámec klasické černobílé fotografie, v New Yorku, kde žila dvacet let, začíná experimentovat s daným médiem a překračuje jeho hranice.
O Vinohradech, kdysi královských
Byl jednou jeden dům… na rohu Mánesovy a Třebízského ulice na pražských Vinohradech. Poutavý příběh nejen tohoto domu a jeho obyvatel, ale i celé pražské čtvrti, zajímavých Vinohraďáků, známých i méně známých a také historii několika divadelních souborů s touto čtvrtí spjatých vypráví spisovatelka a „první dáma černého divadla“, která prožila v tomto domě celý svůj život. Překotná doba více než uplynulé stovky let dala vzniknout v této pozoruhodné pražské čtvrti příběhům přímo strhujícím.

Magie kresby/ The Magic of Drawing
Technika, funkce, styl a kontext italské kresby vrcholné renesance a manýrismu podpořeného v letech 2020–2022 Grantovou agenturou České republiky, je katalogem stejnojmenné výstavy. Reprezentativní přehlídka italské kresby 16. století se koná v prostorách Arcibiskupského zámku v Kroměříži ve dnech 15. 6. - 17. 9. 2023. Výstavu připravilo Muzeum umění Olomouc a představuje díla z fondů Národní galerie v Praze, Moravské galerie v Brně, Regionálního muzea v Teplicích, Arcibiskupství olomouckého, Muzea a galerie v Prostějově, Národního památkového ústavu, Univerzity Karlovy a Památníku národního písemnictví (zde). Kniha je koncipována jako první část trojdílného katalogu italských kreseb z veřejných sbírek České republiky. Nyní zveřejňovanému svazku předcházejí dvě již dříve vydané publikace s názvy „Múza pod nebesy – italská raně barokní kresba z českých a moravských sbírek" (vydáno k výstavě v Moravské galerii v Brně) a „Rozmanitosti kresby – italská kresba vrcholného a pozdního baroku v českých a moravských veřejných sbírkách“.
Činoherní Ústí - Ve znamení kovadliny
Toto je připomínka padesáti let existence Činoherního studia v Ústí nad Labem. Scéna vznikla ve vypjaté normalizační době na troskách politickou mocí zrušeného Kladivadla. Činoherní studio se brzy prosadilo jako neobycejně živé divadlo s osobitou dramaturgií a schopností přitahovat zejména mladé publikum. Originální dramaturgii, režijní a herecký styl si divadlo udrželo i po pádu komunistického režimu. Životní etapy „Činoheráku“ přibližují čtenárům nejen texty mapující vývoj, ale také rozhovory s tvůrci a pamětníky, nebo vzpomínkově laděné příspěvky a výpovědi.

The Kama Sutra gives detailed instructions on how to spank it. Contemporary Italians touch it for luck before placing a bet. Americans are having it cosmetically enhanced at rates approaching breast enlargement surgery. The female butt, tush, culo, or derri?re has always inspired awe, fantasy, and slavish devotion.
Curiously, its primary purpose is functional rather than aesthetic: butts balance our bodies while running, according to biologists. But ask any pygophiliac—as fundament fans are clinically termed—and you’ll get the same answer: female hindquarters exist to please the eye, the hands, and parts south. A pert posterior causes instant arousal, as Zora Neale Hurston observed in Their Eyes Were Watching God: "The men noticed her firm buttocks like she had grape fruits in her hip pockets." Or, as rapper Sir Mix-a-lot proclaimed, "My anaconda don’t want none, unless you’ve got buns, hun."

Publikace se snaží nastolit „pragmatický“ přístup k výtvarnému umění a tvorbě obrazů. Ty zde nejsou představovány primárně jako estetický objekt, jímž se jeví na úrovní osobního chápání, ale jsou s mnoha důkazy zkoumány jako významný a ničím jiným nezastupitelný sociální proces, nezbytný k vynalézání a testování nových obrazových znaků, potřebných pro zvládnutí nových sociálních kontextů. Takto založený koncept obrazu, výtvarného umění, jeho teorie a dějin, včetně jeho pedagogiky, zde představuje tuto oblast jako ucelený systém s jistou funkcionalitou a směřováním, mnohdy v protikladu k mínění, že nic takového v umění hledat nelze, neboť nejcennější na něm je jeho nezaměřenost a jeho svoboda, usilování o nezávislost jeho existence a maximalizace jeho estetického účinku, které v kantovské tradici jakýkoli další účel vylučují. V tomto kontextu však už nestačí učit se pouze užívání (kritice) těchto vizuálních znaků jako takových, ale je třeba porozumět celému procesu, v němž znaky vznikají a jsou socializovány. Při tomto zkoumání se postupně vyjevují některé souvislosti, vázané na rehabilitaci pojmu struktura v pojetí Jana Mukařovského - strukturní představa o vývoji umění a o jeho funkčním, pragmatickém začleňování do aktivního fungování society; představa o obraze, o zobrazení jako postupně se vyvíjející struktuře vizuálních znaků (což znamená také ovšem i navyšující se množství jejich vzájemných vztahů!), funkčně směřující skrze individuálně podmíněné jedinečné vnímání a poznávání k sociální kooperaci a koordinaci. Klíčová slova: výtvarné umění, obraz, struktura, interaktivita, sociální kooperace a koordinace.
The publication aims to introduce a “pragmatic” approach to visual arts and the creation of images. It presents images not primarily as aesthetic objects, which they seem to be through subjective perception; instead, it uses a body of evidence to examine images as a significant social process that cannot be substituted by anything else and that is essential for the inventing and testing of new visual signs required to deal with new social contexts. This concept of image, visual art and its theory, history and pedagogy is used here to represent the entire area as a coherent system with a certain functionality and orientation; in some parts this concept contradicts the opinion that nothing of that sort can be sought in art because the most valuable aspect of art is its absence of focus, its freedom and striving for an independent existence and for a maximisation of its aesthetic effect, which, in line with the Kantian tradition, rules out any other purpose. In this context, however, it is no longer enough only to learn how to use (or criticise) these visual signs as such; it is necessary to understand the entire process in which these signs are created and socialized. This examination process gradually reveals certain connections related to the restoration of the term “structure” as it was understood by Jan Mukařovský: a structural idea of the development of art and its functional, pragmatic integration into the active functioning of the society; an idea of image, or depiction, as a gradually evolving structure of visual signs (which also implies, of course, an increasing amount of their mutual relations!), functionally striving, through individually conditioned unique perception and cognition, for social cooperation and coordination. Vliv současných flétnových technik na kvalitu tónu
