Sophie Calle
The perfect primer on acclaimed French artist Sophie Calle.
Sophie Calle is a French writer, photographer, installation artist and conceptual artist. Her work is distinguished by its use of arbitrary sets of constraints, and frequently depicts human vulnerability, and examines identity and intimacy. She is renowned for her detective-like ability to follow strangers and investigate their private lives, which she has deployed in her acclaimed works Suite Venitienne, The Hotel and Address Book. She has had major exhibitions all over the world, including at the 2007 Venice Biennale, the Whitechapel Gallery in London, and the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark, and has worked closely with the writer Paul Auster. Klimt
Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) is renowned for his two-dimensional, ornamental works, which made him famous worldwide as the most important representative of Viennese Art Nouveau. Potichu si zpívám
Ian Anderson, legenda artrocku a frontman Jethro Tull, kompletně shromáždil všechny texty, které napsal pro Jethro Tull i pro svou sólovou tvorbu. Sbírku provází sada fotografií, pořízených samotným Ianem, ilustrujících vždy jednu vybranou píseň z každého alba.
Knihu otevírá rozsáhlá úvodní předmluva samotného Andersona, ve které do hloubky vysvětluje své tvůrčí postupy. Jde o fascinující výpověď, která dává knize nový rozměr. Ještě před ní si můžete přečíst předmluvu "zázračného dítěte" Geralda Bostocka - jakousi historie Jethro Tull v kostce, vyprávěnou fiktivním autorem veršů alba Thick As A Brick. Jde o typickou ukázku Andersonova humoru a o dokonalý úvod svazku.
Kniha obsahuje všechny vydané texty, členěné chronologicky podle alb a jejich pozdějších bonusů, tedy dříve nevydaných skladeb. Na konci sbírky jsou i některé "osiřelé" písně, které se autor rozhodl se zvídavým čtenářem sdílet. Anderson před vydáním knihy všechny skladby trpělivě prošel, aby si ověřil, že text odpovídá přesně tomu, co se zpívá na desce. Název "Potichu si zpívám" dokonce popisuje proces, který mu probíhal v hlavě, když slova kontroloval.
Každé album je v knize uvozeno elegantní stránkou s obalem alba a stručným textem o okolnostech jeho vzniku z pera Iana Andersona. Následují texty písní alba v angličtině a v češtině, a fotografie, ilustrující konkrétní píseň. Kromě toho zde skalní fanoušci naleznou řadu kopií rukopisů textů, někdy zcela zárodečných. Autorem českého překladu textů je Vladimír Řepík, který práci Iana Andersona dlouhodobě studuje, mnohokrát se s flétnistou a zpěvákem sešel, navštívil v Británii místa jeho působení, a je dnes patrně nejzasvěcenějším znalcem jeho textařského díla u nás.
Po knize "Na rokenrol už jsem starej..." z roku 2006, která mapovala texty Iana Andersona do roku 2003, se tak českému čtenáři dostává do ruky výpravný autorem ilustrovaný svazek zatím kompletního Andersonova lyrického díla včetně posledního alba The Zealot Gene z roku 2022.

WWII was devastating to Europe, but the U.S. emerged with a robust economy. People who were encouraged to save every cent for the war effort now spent freely, including on magazines. The U.S. quickly came to dominate the men's magazine market.
Playboy, launched in December 1953, made a huge impact on publishing, but it was not the only American men's magazine in the 1950s. The quirky burlesque titles Beauty Parade, Wink, Titter and Eyeful, featuring Bettie Page and covers by artist Peter Driben, inspired a spate of competing titles. Much loved WWII pin-ups, often of aspiring starlets, led to "news and nudes" titles with cover girls Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield, and to more lurid titles like Shock, blending burlesque and celebrity scandal. In New York City a clandestine fetishist magazine industry, bankrolled by the mob, emerged, first with John Willie's Bizarre, then Lenny Burtman's female dominant Exotique.
Argentina, with a strong European influence, produced sophisticated Vea (Watch), while England, suffering paper shortages, produced little magazines with big buxom models, charting a path it would maintain through the 1960s.
Then came Playboy. Eschewing the strippers, Hugh Hefner offered up "the girl next door," eroticized innocence, and espoused consumerism as the route to sexual success. This combination made Playboy the most successful men's magazine in history, shaping international publishing for decades.
