Is it possible to imagine life outside the reach of those worlds? What decolonial methods help us understand that form of life in relation to expressive cultures of resistance and refusal? At the Margins of Nihilism develops a theoretical frame through a comparative reading of Jacques Derrida and Orlando Patterson. Reading between deconstruction and social death, Drabinski describes a notion of life as interstitial, situated outside the play of life and death in systems of antiblackness. This notion of life has broad epistemological, existential, and ontological implications. Drawing from a diverse set of sources including Zora Neale Hurston, Ralph Ellison, Gloria Anzaldúa, and others, At the Margins of Nihilism shows how the nihilisms of Richard Wright, Frantz Fanon, James Baldwin, and contemporary afropessimism operate as a closed system. Ve své prvotině, Pojednání o lidské přirozenosti (1739–1740), představil plán zkoumání lidské přirozenosti založený na popisu operací lidské mysli uplatňujících se ve výkonech poznání, při prožívání vášní a v utváření morálního charakteru lidí a společenských zákonů.
Myšlenky Pojednání přepracoval ve Zkoumání lidského rozumu (1748), ve Zkoumání principů morálky (1751) a v Rozpravě o vášních (1757).
Společnost singularit
Zatímco průmyslové společnosti počátku 20. století produkovaly standardizované výrobky, města, organizace a subjekty, v našich pozdně moderních společnostech si ceníme výjimečnosti: jedinečných předmětů, zážitků, míst, jednotlivců, událostí a komunit. Autor zkoumá příčiny, struktury a důsledky takové společnosti singularit, v níž podle něj nyní žijeme. Ta systematicky produkuje nerovnost: trhy jsou založeny na logice vítěz bere vše, pracovní místa jsou polarizována, venkovské regiony zanedbávány a tradiční střední třída je odcizena. Výber z esejí veľkého filozofa 20. storočia – Hansa-Georga Gadamera, ktoré ich prekladateľ Rastislav Nemec vybral z autorových Gesammelte Werke, z ich 7. a 8. zväzku, s ohľadom na tri témy: antiku, estetiku a hermeneutiku. Všetky tri oblasti sa však v esejach prelínajú, vzájomne dopĺňajú a komponujú zmysluplný celok, ktorý dozrieval v autorovej tvorbe dlhé desaťročia. Gadamer týmito esejami osvedčuje nielen široký záber svojho výskumu, ale aj hĺbku, bravúrnosť svojej interpretácie a schopnosť uvažovať v širších súvislostiach. Táto trojica oblastí sa tematicky prelína aj s tromi druhmi ľudských aktivít: počúvať – vidieť – čítať. Každá z nich je naoko pasívna, keďže necháva prehovárať toho druhého, dielo, či text. Na druhej strane je práve takáto pasivita cestou k poznaniu, porozumeniu, k sebazážitku, k sebaporozumeniu i poznaniu iných.
O autorovi:
Hans-Georg Gadamer (1900 – 2002), nemecký filozof, fenomenológ a žiak Martina Heideggera. Preslávil sa výskumom v oblasti antickej filozofie, jazyka, estetiky a osobitne filozofickej hermeneutiky. Habilitoval sa v roku 1929 na univerzite v Marburgu prácou o Platónovej dialektickej etike. Pracoval na filozofických fakultách v Lipsku, vo Frankfurte a v roku 1949 prevzal katedru filosofie po Karlovi Jaspersovi v Heidelbergu, kde pôsobil aj po svojom emeritovaní v roku 1968.
Filozofie na počátku 21.století - 1.část
Stephen Hawking napsal, že filozofové se do teoretické fyziky nemohou plést, protože nestačí sledovat nejnovější trendy v tomto oboru. Při tom konstatoval, že podle Ludwiga Wittgensteina nezbývá filozofii než zabývat se rozborem jazyka. To má být ústup od stoletých tradic filozofie od Aristotela až po Kanta. Autor této knihy se snaží dokázat, že se oba pánové ve svých názorech mýlí. Filozofie je matkou všech věd. Historicky se jednotlivé vědy z filozofie postupem doby oddělovaly. V současnosti je úkolem filozofie dohlížet na to, zda nezbloudily a zda nesledují jiný cíl než odhalovat pravdu o objektivní realitě.
O novém zákoně a milosti v Teologické sumě
Tento svazek Teologické sumy (STh I-II, q. 106–114) obsahuje traktát o novém zákoně spolu s otázkami o milosti, ospravedlnění a zásluhách. Tomáš problematiku nového zákona, stejně jako v pojednání o starém zákonu, na něž tento svazek navazuje, neprobírá „biblisticky“, tedy s důrazem na soubor určitých knih, ani „spáso-dějinně“ s důrazem na různé typy smlouvy, ale z hlediska „zákona“, tedy jako rozumově dané směrnice pro naše jednání. Na rozdíl od starého zákona, jenž byl probírán podle tří typů přikázání: morálního, obřadního a soudního, se novozákonní problematika soustředí kolem pojmu milost, klade tedy větší důraz na Boží působení než na lidskou snahu přiblížit se Bohu.
