Bratislavský hrad na grafikách
Slovenské národné múzeum – Historické múzeum má vo svojich zbierkach vyše 1200 grafík rôznych tematických zobrazení a techník. Vynález kníhtlače, okrem zaznamenania písomného prejavu, umožnil aj značné rozšírenie obrazového materiálu. Vo veľkom sa začali vydávať rytiny oslavujúce panovníkov, mytologické výjavy a spoločenské udalosti alebo pohľady na mestá. V 16. storočí prišli do módy spracovania cestopisov s množstvom obrazovej prílohy zobrazujúcej krajiny a mestá, čo umožnilo spoznávať vzdialené končiny širšej populácii oveľa viac ako stáročia predtým. Jednou z takýchto veľkých publikácií, ktorá sa zaoberala aj územím Slovenska je Civitates orbis terrarum od G. Brauna a F. Hogenberga z roku 1572. Vďaka tejto knihe sa prvýkrát stretávame s vedutou Bratislavy, reálne zobrazujúcou budovy a vzhľad mesta. Od 17. storočia počet grafických zobrazení Bratislavy a hradu postupne rastie a vrchol dosahuje v 19. storočí, keď sa okrem tradičných celkových vedút mesta objavujú pohľady na jednotlivé časti mesta či významné budovy. Grafiky zobrazujúce Bratislavský hrad nám umožňujú sledovať premeny hradu od 16. storočia. Sú na nich zobrazené prestavby hradu uskutočnené Ferdinandom I., Pálfiovcami, Máriou Teréziou, ale aj stav hradného areálu po požiari v roku 1811. Od 19. storočia sa ruina Bratislavského hradu nezriedka predstavuje ako romantická spomienka na slávnu minulosť. Vďaka romanticky pôsobiacim prácam K. Frecha poznáme viaceré zákutia mesta, ako aj niektoré detaily hradných budov. S vynálezom fotografie však postupne upadá záujem o vydávanie rytín, napriek tomu sú hodnotným svedectvom doby a cieľom zberateľstva ako historický a umelecký dokument.

Publikácia v samostatných celkoch približuje veľké medzinárodné výstavy, ktoré získali prívlastok svetové, najvýznamnejšie celouhorské výstavy, ako aj výstavy konané na území Slovenska v období do roku 1918 i v čase prvej ČSR. Pri svetových a celouhorských výstavách vykresľuje nielen ich celkový priebeh, ale podrobne zachytáva aj účasť vystavovateľov zo Slovenska. Pri svetových výstavách do roku 1918 systematicky dokumentuje participáciu Uhorska a po roku 1918 Československa s osobitným zreteľom na Slovensko. Čitateľ nájde v publikácii veľa doposiaľ málo známych informácií spojených s konaním výstav, vrátane zaujímavých súvislostí s dobovými udalosťami. Nepochybne
ho zaujme aj bohatá obrazová dokumentácia s mnohými jedinečnými ilustráciami. Knihu vydalo Slovenské národné múzeum ako 1. zväzok novej edície Museion zameranej na vydávanie monografických diel zo všetkých základných oblastí svojej vedeckovýskumnej činnosti.

Dějiny evropské architektury V.
Kniha začíná ve Florencii analýzou staveb Filippa Bruneleschiho, dále hodnotí tvorbu Michelloza a dalších, zejména Albertiho, jenž jako první pochopil velikost římské imperiální architektury. Kolem 1500 se ohnisko dění přeneslo do Říma, kde působili architekti Bramante, Raffael, Peruzzi, Sangallo a Julio Romano, zatímco na severu Itálie pracovali Serlio, Sanmicheli, Sansovino a další. Proud započatý Albertim uzavírá Andrea Palladio. V Čechách se renesance prosadila na několika zámcích (Kacéřov, Nelahozeves), a později se stala obecnou kulturou doby (Slavonice, Telč).
Kapitola o barokním umění začíná tvorbou Michelangela a jeho činností ve Florencii a zejména v Římě. V duchu tridentské reformy pracovali umělci Vignola, Porta a Maderna. In July 1962, Marilyn Monroe was at a crossroads. At thirty-six years old and embroiled in legal battles with the studio of her current picture, Something’s Gotta Give, she was struggling with fame, age, and a studio system in which she no longer fit. When she sat down to give Richard Meryman an interview, she had a lot to say. Originally intended to be an interview about fame, over the course of four hours Marilyn talked about her entire life. Only a small portion of the interview was published in LIFE Magazine. When she died, just two days after the article was published, Meryman put the full transcript and the original tapes in his files, never to see the light of day.
Documenting this landmark interview was iconic photojournalist Allan Grant. His images of Marilyn would be her last formal photo shoot—in her home, in casual clothes, being the glorious, free spirit she was. Grant captured every emotion of the interview in these exquisite images, only eight of which were published alongside the LIFE interview excerpt. Most of the remainder of the images were stored in Allan’s safe, waiting to be rediscovered.

Comparative Musicology
This is an open access title available under the terms of a CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 licence. It is free to read at Oxford Scholarship Online and offered as a free PDF download from OUP and selected open access locations. Why do all human societies make music, but in such different ways? Scientific attempts to answer this question through cross-cultural comparison stalled during the 20th century and have only recently begun to make a resurgence. In this book, Patrick Savage, a leader in this resurgence synthesises recent advances from musicology and related fields including psychology, linguistics, computer science, and evolutionary anthropology to outline ways to understand and compare all the world's music. He applies comparative musicology to longstanding debates including universal and culturally-specific aspects of human music; evolutionary relationships between song, speech, and animal vocalisation; and applications to areas including music copyright, 2nd language acquisition, social bonding, and cultural heritage revitalisation. In doing so, he argues for an inclusive, multidisciplinary field that uplifts traditionally marginalised voices and combines the qualitative methods traditionally employed by musicologists and cultural anthropologists with quantitative methods from the natural sciences. The book is accessibly written using over 50 figures/tables and an interactive tutorial with audio examples, with each chapter designed to be readable/teachable on its own.
